Ota 03/2023.53
First of all, my apologies if this has been covered. From what I read all the 03/2023.53 upgrades have been dealer installed.
Today I was prompted to upgrade to 03/2023.53 OTA. This is the second OTA after the 11/2022.64 3 months ago. Earlier this month I got the 03/2023.45 at the dealer when I went for the airbag and seat module recall. All the settings were retained so I didn’t have to reset anything. Here are some pics |

Has anybody just started getting an OTA without getting a first one from the dealer? |

Has anyone received any rev of 03/2023 via OTA coming from any rev of 11/2022? I have only seen posts about dealer updates to 03/2023.

most interesting is that this claims to prevent some of the drivetrain errors people have been getting.

The BMW app on my phone just flagged this update. 3/2023.53 is downloading now.
I'll give it a go in a few hours. Hopefully it goes smoothly. The first OTA I attempted failed to execute, then the car actually removed remote software update from the menu system. I had to have a dealer install the update... |

Update went well…probably fixing some under the bonnet (aka technical) issues. Nothing cosmetic nor new is added

Function Updates and Quality Enhancements
I just updated but have not taken my i7 out for a drive since the update. I'm particularly interested in the Function Updates and Quality Enhancements line items. I have tried to find some documentation on what this entails and have found nothing but the generic description in the app. Anyone know what's new with this update? When I picked up my i7 a week ago, the dealer said a new update was inbound that would enhance the Driver Assist Plus mode. From the sound of it, this is not that update.
Edit: Also I'm new around here. I apologize if this is not the right forum for i7 posts, but I don't see a section for i7 drivers. I figure the iDrive update will be similar between our cars. |

https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2016303 My car now standing at the dealer for troubleshooting, and last info I got yesterday was to do the software update. (always sound like an excuse to me when they cannot find the problem but in this case it might be true then?!) |

Got mine as well. Funny thing, it wouldn’t let me upgrade in my Garage. Only in my driveway🤣

Not a good idea to complete in your garage anyway, because you want enough space around the car for flatbed lifts and people after you update. Because.

I got almost no cell signal in my garage and my driveway has a very pronounced slope. I guess, I am never getting any OTA updates.

I have great cellular coverage and a perfectly flat driveway, and I haven’t received a single OTA update. It’s at the dealer right now.

My impression is that all the OTA updates are now downloaded automatically on your phone (WiFi or cellular if you have that set), then uploaded to the car (unlike the early OTA Wild West, when some cars were bricked by a direct update). Mine showed up first as a notification on my phone, then uploaded to the car while driving, and the car notified me when it was ready to install.
