IX M60 Air Suspension and IAS

Hiya. Does anyone know if the air suspension and IAS that was removed from the IX models in late 2022 affected all the models - ie xdrive 50 and m60 or only the xdrive 50?

Basically wondering if I go for the m60 is it guaranteed to have the IAS and air suspension, regardless of when it came off the factory line…

Nothing is ever guaranteed, but the last wave of deletions only affected the iX50. The M60 in fact now has everything previouly deleted intermittently from the combined product line at one time - passenger lumbar/massage, hands-free tailgate, air suspension and IAS, and interior camera.

Ok that's good to know re: IX50 only.

It might only be the pedant in me but when you say 'The M60 .. now has everything previously deleted ....' do you mean it 'now has it specced and on the car' or 'now has it deleted off the car'...? I've reread it a few times and my brain hears both.

Sorry - multiple features were deleted unannounced from the iX50, starting I believe about a year from first production (BMW blamed world events, but seized the opportunity - if you can put lumbar support in one seat, you can put it in another. They just chose not to in order to make more cars.). I think passenger lumbar support/massage was the first to go, and not just the iX but multiple models. Followed shortly by B&W, and hands-free tailgate opening, later air suspension/IAS - some of these are still in play, and the iX50 seems to be the whipping boy when BMW runs short of iX parts. The M60, AFAIK, has just about every iX50 option standard, so few deletions of any of the originally included options. The only ones of which I'm aware were the interior camera (small loss IMO) and only for a couple of months, and maybe passenger lumbar support and hands-free tailgate for a time - all recent models have those options.

So rounding back, the M60 seem to have all the options included that it originally came with (subject of course to actual add-ons like the DAP and Luxury Package in the US), and if there are any future unannounced deletions the M60 will likely be last in line - which is why we switched our initial order of an iX50 to the M60. And all unrelated of course to what type of head unit or OS is now in either car, which aren't actual deletions but just not included in earlier models. And the longevity of either car in the model lineup is speculative right now also, with I suspect an end to production for both on a horizon line that may or may not be in the next three to five years.

After the short ride home with the iX xDrive 50 loaner car, I really appreciate the air suspension on my M60. That typical Houston pothole I hit on the way home made me feel like I was driving by M550 with low profile wheels and tires again. I wouldn’t have felt much with my M60’s air suspension.

The air suspension in my M60 is very well-executed. Smooth ride, taut handling, excellent body control all at the same time.

It is not so well-executed in our X7. Ride is good on most roads, but the bigger bumps come crashing through. Biggest problems are the amount of head toss (most pronounced when turning into an inclined driveway) and the general looseness/wallowing of the car on the highway (especially for rear seat passengers).

Thanks all - super helpful.

So if there were deletions on any given car and I’m buying a used car - would that show up in its spec on a bmw system? It makes sense as Ive seen many cars with deletion of lumbar support and wondered who the hell would have species that option - but if it was a factory enforced deletion it makes sense.

Your best bet is to get the VIN and then run it through a BMW decoder. That will tell you everything that it came with. There are many out there, but this is the one I use:
