Winter car -> summer car
Put the iX through its paces for its primary intended purpose this winter: ski car! It has 7000 miles on it since April 2022 and 3000 of those were driven from January through March, up to the mountains and back 2-3 times a week. Skis went on the rack on top, boots in the trunk. Weathertech did a good job of protecting the interior and I used the BMW trunk mat because it has the fold up to access the lower compartment, which my wife and I like a lot. Only annoyance is that the fold up doesn't come up cleanly, you can see in the pictures that the edges "catch" at about 90 degrees.
Got a pretty large windshield crack from snow road rocks. Had the dealer replace it and insurance paid for it 100% Got done turning it back to a summer car last week. Took off the racks, cleaned it up, and looking shiny again!

Did you have the frozen backup camera dangling out issue? I got it while up in Jasper at -15F.

Expect winter range to drop to 160-190 miles. Worst I ever got 100% to 1% was Las Vegas to Cedar City Utah 165 miles against 40-50mph winds in a blizzard with 8 inches of snow on the 15N. Limped to the charger with 1 mile of range left and no heater for the last 50%. I imagine ski racks will make it worse.

I did a post in Feb where I ran the same freeway round trip stretch on the same day back to back with and without ski rack, not sure if I can find it here again though. I want to say it went from 34kwh/100m to 39kwh/100m at 75mph. It’s still really good considering the competition. |

Range was affected quite a bit. I was driving in temperatures around 30F and elevation gains one way of 3000ft. With racks, range would have been around 200mi at 100% charge. Didn't need to charge along the way for the most part, but went to a further mountain a couple times where I did and charging went pretty smoothly.

Hi! I also love to drive my iX to go skiing but I prefer to put our skies (4 pairs) inside the car, using this BMW ski bag:
https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/3...-SNOWBOARD-BAG It works great!! |
