2017 Acura NSX Dealer Surcharge

For shits and giggles I walked into my local Acura dealer to get more details about 2017 NSX. First off the bat, the Sales Manager let me know that there would be a 12% "market adjustment" i.e. dealer mark-up above MSRP. Also, it would be about a 12 month wait from the time the order is placed to delivery. I would consider a lot of other cars before the NSX for $200k, but I thought I'd provide you my experience.

Did they also offer financing at 8.9% with interest accumulating while you wait for delivery?

Only 12%. I was interested in getting an Indy pace car camaro in '96, the car was $18k with $12k market adjustment. When ZR-1 came out in '90 they were msrp $59,995 and had $60k market adjustment. Even $100k cash deposit didn't guarantee you would get one and that was in 1990 dollars.

Even with a 12% markup, you're looking at $188k(with $11k in options) only $174,720(with the base price of $156k). Still a lot of money, but you're rounding up a bit to get to $200,000. 12% is quite a bit less markup than we were seeing with the 1M when it came out or the current Shelby GT350's, so not too bad IMO. Also, I think the NSX is far more special than the GT350 or 1M and is going to get a 12% markup no problem.

$156,000.00 Base MSRP

The new NSX blows. I'd pocket 100k and go buy a better gen1 NSX or drive down the street to the McLaren dealership and buy a 570S

Are you saying you could do this for the same amount of money....cause you can't....Some may not like its looks but, I'm betting the NSX drops similar if not a pinch better test numbers than the 570s....

No, not buy both the gen1 AND 570s for the same money as the new NSX.

MSRP of the 570s is in the 180k range...which is inline with the new NSX after markups.

Wow. And to get on their year-long waitlist. I understand a markup in the first couple months, but not a year out.

The car is already too expensive. Even if you go cheap on options, it's still about $175k. They force you to pay $6k for a carbon roof as there's no option for a painted roof, unless you opt for the "I cheaped out black painted roof." They force you to get carbon ceramics on the early cars, too. For a $156k supersports car not to include carbon ceramics IMO is shameful.

Too many other products for that price.

Very doubtful that the portly NSX outperforms the 570.

And yes you'll be able to buy a 570 for the same money.

Once the couple of dozen people that wants this pick it up, this will be a big sales loser even by exotic car standards. I also wonder if 1 year is really a "wait list" or just that they start building once you order.

He mentioned buying a first gen NSX as well, my point is that he couldn't buy both for the same money....he came back and said not both.....

I've driven a few McLarens, and honestly unless the NSX glovebox is magically full of $100 bills every time I open it, I'd have a VERY hard time going with that option.

$156,000.00 Base MSRP
To most people, even on this forum, $188k is the same as $200k. Both are out of most people's affordability range.

Should be interesting, the all wheel drive should counter the weight advantage in acceleration test (track as well) most have said it should easily hit to Acura's claimed 3 sec 0-60, 1/4 mile estimates are 11.1-11.4....that's right on par with the 570s....

Not the same....but more.

185k MSRP GT3RS were going for 300k+ initially

Now settling around $75-85k over after the recent stock market adjustment.

I loath the stealerships and the corporate inaction that allows this to happen. But, iam also "poor" and don't have 300k to just throw around.

Dealers are using common core math to sell cars nowadays.
F*$@ it then, not worth the bs. I honestly feel a new R8 is a more attractive option.
Want a GT350 but it's marked up to AMG C63s coupe price....so guess which one I would get.

This will eventually taint the image of the brand in the long run.
Are they making the car for dealers or people. If they want to make a profit, just price the car accordingly from the factory and offer no discounts, this dealer mark up shit is ridiculous. When even a Golf R is being marked up, there's is obviously a problem. And the brand is supporting it.

Not sure.

It not not a limited edition car. It's being marketed by McLaren as the everyday sports car.

But anything is possible.
