Beautiful and unique color, though not Air Force Blue. You will have miles of fun and enjoyment in the i8. If my service advisor is correct, there are certain BMW production models that have gone up in value over the years. The i8 may be one of them, given its design, construction, and limited production. Congratulations!

khlambo good choice, same car as mine. Curious to hear your views vs pukka SC etc. Was close to pull trigger on 720s a year or so ago. Had a drive and felt like it was too much: too much speed for the road, too wide for UK roads, too much carry cost etc.
i8 so easy to live with. |

A little off topic, has anybody negotiated the end lease buy out price with BMW?
For example the buyout price(aka residual) is $100k but the real market price is $80k...wondering if BMW would negotiate with you.. |

BMW is not negotiating leases on the i8, as the auction prices as per BMWFS "real market value" is currently higher than the residuals. Case in point that the gentleman in this forum just bought a used i8 roadster for $135K.

When my 2016 i8 lease expired in 2019 the residual was high, but "Market Value" was around $60k. I should have bought the car, but the lease on the 2019 was too good to pass up. Currently pre-LCI i8's are in the $70k - $80k mark (you can find the odd ball high mileage 2014-2015 for $60k still) with LCI coupes around $100k - $110k and roadsters even more. https://www.bloombergquint.com/busin...-supply-crunch |

I came into my i8 from a V8 Maserati. I thought I would miss the noise and manual gearbox driving experience, but so far have no regrets!
For me it is the versatility that makes this so attractive. It can be a quiet and comfortable car for a economical drive through a town, but slide it into sport mode and the acceleration and handling is plenty to put a smile on my face. Being a 2016 model the running costs have got to be the cheapest around for a car that looks and drives like this. The road tax is £0, my insurance is £300 a year, the warranty from BMW gives you peace of mind and servicing is barely more than a family hatchback on the BMW 4 year plan. There is also a lot of space inside (I am 6ft4) and despite what people say I have no problem with getting in and out with the doors. The i8 is a beautiful and unique car that at present I couldn't think of anything else I would swap it for. |
