Can't get behind the removal of all the climate buttons. I change the fan speed constantly, now I have to press menu and use the touchscreen to do it every time. The climate screen is a mess too, they couldn't even fit all the controls at once so you have to scroll to the right to turn on passenger seat heat, are you kidding me?
The volume knob was better placed close to your hand below the vents, but maybe could get used to it on the center console. The iDrive knob is still there but the capacitive buttons that you have to glance down at to use are terrible. And even that isn't long for this world, going by the 2 Series AT release with no iDrive knob at all, a first for BMW in...20 years? There's nothing you can say about the connected screens or removal of physical controls that makes the car genuinely better, it's just chasing fads. Wish they'd be an innovator in this space and focus on ergonomics like they used to. |

I would go a step further and even open it up to allowing users to upload a custom one if they wanted to. But hey, what do I know... |

Except that it's not true. If you look any of the detailed iX reviews that started appearing during the last 14 days, the instrument cluster is customizable including the layout and content. Trapezoid layout is just one of the few available.

With HUD, I hardly look at the instrument cluster at all. As long as it has the info for my occasional glance, it's fine with me. |

More on-topic I think the iX is a great car and can't wait to replace my X5 45e with it. Nice to see them side by side! |

So basicly you have have pretty much the regen you want. But adaptive is the way to go. Then different sensors and the GPS will go from coasting to regen, depending on the distance from the vehicle in front, or roundabout, red light and so on - it works very very good. I'm suprised how old and outdated the G05 looks next to the iX. Anything but the seats is in favor for the iX, shame we can't have optional seats in the BEV flagship from BMW.

Looking at the side by side photo, X5 suddenly looks dated. And what freedom? I certainly want freedom from gas stations! |

I have the iDrive 7 within the iX3, the iDrive 8 is more versatile and you can make it more personal, to suit your own taste, but all is not good, the look ok the UI is old fashioned and it looks slower than previous version.

Funny guy. Is quiet? That’s for non ethusiastic people. From what I know I like to be alive. Sound is like colors: makes life different, interesting and beautiful. When you can bring two buckets of power, pour them inside in 5 minutes and park the car in the woods for three months and start it when need it, give me a call. BTW, Bring that electric joke to drive it in winter at -40 between two provinces and see how far you will go. Exactly like my friend that sold his Tesla one month after few trips in the winter. And even then, with that design and that refurbished glass on the dash, please do not bother as I am ashamed to own such thing, forget of showing it in the road…. |

Historic vehicles and they turn heads more than any new car. Yeah, and they are “outdated”. Some people buy fashionable clothing just because it’s trendy; and they look like shit. New or modern doesn’t mean beautiful. I buy things that look good on me, I like, and represent me as an Individual, things that have character and are properly made. Who cares what “otdated” means for the others? Because I don’t. BTW, puting a piece of vertical glass on a dashboard makes it different than the previous one, but that doesn’t mean is beautiful. Picasso sketches might look modern to some (horrendous to me) but they will never have the depth, colors, shades and expression of a Renaissance artist. Why would I want to park the car in the woods for three months? Who else in the forum wants to do that? Quote:

Last month I went riding bicycle in Idaho. Stayed at pretty fancy resort in Kellogg, right on I-90. Zero chargers. Nearest (and the only one) was several miles away, at Walmart. Thank you, but unless it is an SUV just to get to Costco, there is no way electric would work for me.
