New iX configurator is up couple of question

Hi guys, I got on configurator as soon as it opened, right before 8am EST this morning and have completed couple of builds by now

curious about following:

to get heated steering wheel you must choose Radiant Heating Package,
looks like it doesn't come stand alone

no way to change the trim, not a huge fun of Titanium Bronze Trim (but there is no option)

to get the soft close doors we must choose Luxury option which has crystal controls and walnut panel (not my thing)

and if u decide to upgrade the leather from SensaTec to Premium you will get bronze trim on the head rest so no

I'm sure I'll be playing with this much more but I have a good idea what I'll be going with.

share your thoughts

RE: No trim change - your right. That is not cool. I am not a fan either, but my wife likes it enough and this is her car. Thank goodness the exterior bronze is an option that you can forgo.

RE: Soft close - another bummer that it was grouped with the crystal set. We have been going back and forth on that because we like the walnut, but there were 2 reviews that the crystal had some glare issues. We'll survive. Selected the luxury option.

We went pretty plain on the colors. Windows will get tinted when it arrives.

I think the Sophisto Grey may be one of the most complimentary colors for the iX. The new kidney grill sort of disappears with this color and with Black Sapphire Metallic.

The wife and I are going back-and-forth on exterior/interior colors but we narrowed it down to the Stonegrey Microfiber/Wool Blend seats and either Mineral White Metallic or Sophisto Grey.

Our 2019 X7 50i is Arctic Grey and we grew to love it. It looks great in the sunshine. Sophisto Grey appears to be very similar.

Mineral White Metallic looks pretty good but the kidney grill really stands out on a white car.

now that you mention it, a smoked version of those crystals would look really nice I think... I wonder how hard/expensive that would be...

Hah! I told her earlier today that if it blinds her I have some really good black duct tape. I got a not very impressed response. I'm sure it will be fine. We live in the PNW and the sun rarely shines.

they have been omitting spare tires for a while now in favor of run flats. In other cars, there is room for a compact spare to be placed under the floor of the trunk, like in my X5. I believe US customers were able to option one for a couple hundred bucks (BMW Canada did not allow us to do so) but the iX doesn't have room for it under the trunk floor. Like not even close. So you'd better avoid nasty looking potholes on long trips.

I have been driving BMWs for almost 40 years and when they started with run-flats I hated them. Couldn’t fix them and they got ruined pretty easily. No more, I like the safety of them and they last. Now I may get a car without a run flat and without a spare. I live with it in my 911 but won’t like it in a SUV

Totally agree, run flat has saved me several times. Its def a major con for me when considering moving forward with my pre order.

This is a head scratcher for me as well. Why BMW wouldn't include (or even offer) run-flats on a vehicle that does not come with a spare makes no sense.

Well... That and the 22s only come with performance tires. We live in the PNW... Performance tires suck in the winter. I'll see what options I can get in A/S... I don't see a run-flat option for that tire size anywhere.

My best guess? Range. Runflats are heavier, thus will probably negatively impact range.

I can understand if you want performance tires, run flats may not be available.
I ordered standard 20 inch.

My guess as someone said has to be with mileage.

They are including pump with the car and hopefully that works.

When I installed RFT on Tesla S back in a day, I didn't notice any difference. But BMW is still struggling for the range so my guess they are trying to squeeze last 1% with low-resistance tires.

Judging from small trunk, no trailer hitch option, no RFT or spare iX BMW does not think people will be doing long trips in it.

Anyone know if the “Sport” front/back bumper change the drag on the car?
I want to maximize the miles on an electric car…. Also the 20” wheels give you the best range in the iX followed by the 22”, and the worst range is by the 21” wheels (something to keep in mind) for people like me that like to squeeze every mile in an electric car.
