Actually surprised no one mentioned it earlier.

The cost of everything is through the roof. I know we have all seen the threads on costs of used cars, new cars. I have a trucking company. We sell off used trailers (think tractor trailers) after X years to rotate out old for new. They usually sell for a few thousand dollars at 10 or 15 years old. I’m in the process of selling a bunch for over $20k each. Mind boggling. A new trailer these days goes for $60k! That’s double what is was not long ago. So at least the sale of the old somewhat reduces the cost of the new on the books. |

No Energy had been on the rise before the Ukraine standoff. At the Moment US is sending every free LNG tanker to EU to offset Russia dealing with NordStream. They made a poor choice to buy fuel for a country that is not an ally.

Wish I knew about this about $18K ago! Of course, there's no way that I could ever get a 53' trailer down our dead end street and into my driveway. Heck, I can *barely* drag my 24' enclosed race car hauler out without having to do a few K-turns between a bedrock outcropping and the trees.....

Holy shit. I just drove past a local BP station. $5.17/gallon for premium (credit). I remember premium hovering around the $5 mark once but don’t think I’ve ever seen it this high.

The gasbuddy.com heat map for gasoline prices is interesting. https://www.gasbuddy.com/gaspricemap...-96.591588&z=4
Pretty clear that prices are lowest near production/refining locations, and CA sticks its drivers with high taxes. |

Well….
FPL has definitely increased rates. Our “winter” bill is looking like our summer bill. Typically in the summer we are in the mid to high $200s and in winter i’s usually like around $150. Our last FL bill was over $200. No extra usage that I can think of. In NC I haven’t noticed much of a change but haven’t been here long enough to really tell. However we use propane in NC for stove, hotwater, furnace etc. I have been putting off getting it filled mainly because their site says to order when you are at around 20%. So I got to 20% and ordered… not considering the actual price of propane. Ended up with a $700 bill. Gas is also crazy. I think last I paid was like $4.20ish for premium. Regular is like $3.80s-$4. Not looking forward to when I have to fill the truck up with diesel. Luckily I don’t really drive it around. |

I paid $4.09 for premium to fill up my wife’s SUV yesterday. Then I stopped by Costco to pick up a few things and saw lines through the parking lot for Costco gas. I swear it looked worse than during a hurricane. How much cheaper is it to make it worth sitting through that?

The only time that I ever saw gas over $5.00/gallon was passing by Indianapolis...on 9/11/2001. Needless to say, I kept on stepping down the highway rather than pay those panic/gouging prices.....

I just got my last month's propane bill for my vacation home. I think I may have been at the house once during that period for a day or two. I ran the heat at 73/74 degrees when I was there. Otherwise, the house temp is set at 56 degrees. My bill was still $207. And this house was built under Energy Star specs to include low E windows, all penetration areas into the home is spray foamed, and high efficiency HVAC system. The house was also blower door tested and had to meet a minimum before the house could be delivered to me under the Energy Star requirements.

That being said we were not here for Jan and a lot of Feb when temp were the coldest. I don't think the furnace rarely turns on. Mostly it's just the heat pump. |
