Bought a salvage 2016 i8

I just bought a 2016 i8 with 22k miles. It has significant front end and drivers side front damage. It has fenders but no hood, bumper, or any of front end parts included. The more I dig into it, the more I’m considering parting it out.

If you plan on dismantling it, here's hoping the parts, when all is sold, will be substantially be more than what you paid for this wreck.

Lots of good parts on it, but still undecided on build or sell off.

leaning toward a rebuild. With 22K I think its worth the cost.

but the parts are rare and a pain to come by. took me months just to get a new window regulator for double the price

What stopped you from ordering new part from Europe? It takes 2-3 weeks to get delivered overseas

Yah actually that's what i had to do, they don't have the parts here in the US usually, so after ordering online and having it delivered took me maybe 2 months including holiday delays + import fees/delays etc.

Anyone know what pigtail / connector goes through the hole with the blue ring? The wiring harness had to be replaced due to damage but I can’t seem to figure out what goes through there.

This looks like most of the wiring for the car but I’m not seeing a pass through near the heater box area.

I did some research and it looks like the passthrough for the HVAC drain, not a harness hole.

Yeah that sucks. But to speed things up - try to lookup for mail forwarders instead of direct delivery. It might be a bit more expensive, but also faster.

Anyone have any idea what goes on the small fitting on the inverter coolant port? I’m assuming it goes to the reservoir but the parts manuals don’t show the hose that goes there.

Made some progress on the repair. Getting ready to mount the rear subframe/engine and main battery.

Doesn’t look like much but already a lot of work put in. I had to transfer everything from the original car to a new body shell and new front subframe. Missing a ton of front end parts still.

Yeah a bit of a nightmare at the moment. Parts are not cheap. I’m a little worried about the high voltage battery sitting for so long.

Added some Alcantara to the dash since it’s out.

Some of the trim was damaged probably from the windshield glass. I had some leftover carbon wrap that makes it look decent.
