Who all on here holds an American Express, just wondering because I was at the dealer and went to pay for something from service and the cashier lady said in her 5 years working there she has never seen a Platinum American Express she said has seen a hand full of gold and plenty greens.

Purpose: Business or Personal
Type: Green, Gold, Platinum, Centurion(aka Black Card)
Payment Type: Credit Card or Charge Card

4. Amex sent me something for the gold cardand I applied and got it.

I have the gold charge card. They keep begging for me to go platinum. I don't see that it's worth $450 a yr.

visa and mastercard is accepted almost everywhere EXCEPT costco

platnium card is common for AMEX, but i just cant justify the 450 fee compared to the gold card.

The only difference i saw was getting a free companion airplane ticket, but i dont fly enough

If you have an account with Ameriprise, the AMEX Platinum card is only $75 a year, which definitely makes it worth it!

That's how we have a credit crisis?? lol People apply or have the car because they think it's worth it or that they're getting enough rewards back. Whatever the reason is just because you don't care for it doesn't mean it's stupid. I don't have a platinum amex so I'm not biased- just my $.02.

Same here.

1. Both are personal
2. Gold & Blue
3. Charge Card (NO LIMIT on Gold) - $10k limit on Blue
4. I wanted a AMEX so I applied and got the gold, they've been trying to get me to up to a Platinum but the fee isn't worth it. The differences between Gold and Platinum are minimal at best, besides the $250 hike in annual fee.

Was going to get gold Amex card for 1st year free, then I found out it's 200 annually. I'll stick with my $25,000 limit visa. And I'm only 18!
