Thumbs up Any Canon SLR owners here? I need opinions on the Rebel line

I've seen a lot of high quality pictures people have taken of their whips, and was wondering if an entry level SLR would be able to do this.

I found this camera for a decent price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830120278

What do you photo experts think? Will this camera be able to take decent shots? I've been itching to do a photo shoot with my Focus.

Try out the photography section. I got an XSi just a couple of weeks ago and it's great.

Here's the camera you're looking at only cheaper from a place I use a lot

Here's a great Canon photography site I've been learning a lot from.

Its all about the lenses, more than the body. Most mid-level consumer level bodies will provide very nice compelling images. The key is in using high quality prosumer/pro lenses like any of Canon's L series.

I had two XTi's before my 40D (current).. The reason why I had two XTi's is because I was so pleased with it.. I sold my first one because I wanted to try either a Nikon D60 or Sony a350.. Needless to say, I found canon to be a better choice for me, so I was going to get a XSi instead but I liked how the XTi felt in my hands more than the XSi... Few months later, I decided I wanted a bigger body and got a super deal on my 40D.. I couldn't be happier with it. My only gripe is that I wish it was a little bigger, but the battery grip takes care of that problem!

Oh and btw, the main reason why I stuck with the Canon's is because of the 10-22mm wide angle lens that I want.... really really want.

I've owned several of the Rebels: XT, XTi, XSi. I moved up to a full frame 5D about a year ago. The Rebels take superb photos and I concur with the other posters that buying quality glass is a good investment. I used to have the 17-85 IS with the Rebel - a great combination for most applications. Also getting a decent dedicated Canon flash like the 4 or 5 series also makes a big difference and allows more control of the lighting than the pop-up flash in the Rebels.

I think the XTi is a heck of a fine camera, takes awesome almost fool-proof photos and can be had for an excellent price either new or used on Ebay.

Good luck and happy shooting!

Big difference - especially with L glass. The 70-200 4 IS is the sharpest lens I have. I also have the 16-35 2.8 and 24-105 4 IS - both very nice as well. The 5D gives incredible detail and you can blow up and crop virtually anything with little to no grain. Great vivid colors. The pictures with my 5D seem almost 3 dimensional at times.

I'm now saving for the 5D mark II.

same here, i've had the xti for about 8 or 9 months and i love it. I had nikon d40 before that and nothing compares to a cannon as far as entry level slrs. i hear alot people saying there is a huge difference between the xsi and xti, but i have shot with both and wouldnt pay the extra for the xsi...just my .02.
btw even the regular lense that comes with it is incredible, i use it for shooting jewelry and can get real close up to the small details. i dont feel limited, although i would love to get a macro lense. hmmm
