That being said, it looks to be at least while to see if Mercedes can even catch up to Ferrari and RB. Looks to be a great two team fight for the near future. I’m just excited that finally one of the two is red.
The F1-75 is very similar to the Mercedes W10/W11 in that regard. It doesn't need the top end speed like the RB because the chassis is just better in terms of balance and putting down power. VER needed the top speed AND DRS plus hard driving just to overtake LEC, while LEC through smart driving was able to position the F1-75 and overtake VER with ease. Outside of that 5 minute back/forth overtaking, LEC and the F1-75 were under no real threat. Whenever VER got within 1 sec, LEC was able to extend his lead with ease.

Agree, RB PU actually looks the strongest.

The Ferrari PU is just too fast. It's all about (PACE) !
Charlie pulled what ?
2-3 times a gap from 3-5 sec. in just a couple of laps ..

The Ferrari looks so well planted and balanced vs the RB car ..
The Ferrari never locked up like the RB or Mercedes !
Currently : HONDA and Mercedes are just too slow . Mercedes is even worse !

The '2022 Ferrari is the '2022 World Champion car ...

Indeed, top speed is also very much a matter of how the car is set up aerodynamically.
But already in practice teams could see that the ferrari's were very fast when accelerating.
So the power is certainly there at Ferrari.
They now have things sorted powerwise, suspensionwise, aerowise and tacticalwise (sub 2,5sec pitstops etc). No apparent faults for them this weekend. Their result is deserved.

Just in . The latest !

• MAX : Today we dealt with Fuel pump failures , that's why we got DNF's

• Horner : We prefer to fix a fast podium car , instead of making a slow car faster .

Of course ...But meanwhile the RB's score remains 0 ..

Damn ! Too bad for MAX !

It's a long season, lol at the drama queen making declarations already.

It was a great race to watch, exciting stuff. Happy to see Ferrari up front frighting. They looked good!

AM and McLaren got some work to do!

Let's do it again next weekend.

Yeah, Merc knows that for this race, they got the best achievable result with their current package + the bonus of lots of precious points lost for the Red Bull team (both drivers + constructor). But today's race was also a reality check for Merc that also the next races will be yet another uphill battle until they properly addressed their W13's gremlins. Toto Wolff told that the W13 currently performs about 5/6 of its capacity - they will work on getting to 6/6. At least that's what the co-presenter on Belgian TV claimed to have heard Wolff saying in the paddock.

Fuel pump...my 928 kept conking out after a minute or so and that's what's needed on it, it's over 30 years old!

Honestly I didn't expect Merc's race pace to be that bad. 3/4 through the race they were down 50+ seconds. They seem to burn through tires quicker as well. I don't see how this turns around quickly.

Merc is lucky McLaren sh!t the bed on development of new car. They could have easily been 4th or 5th team on the grid, if couple other teams stepped up.

McLaren and AM look terrible. I know AM said they have to compromise a lot of speed to get rid of porpoising. McLaren...I don't know, they look worse than Williams at the moment.

The problem for Merc is Ferrari are still basically running a launch spec car. Ferrari has loads of upgrades coming to an already fast car. Merc's upgrades are only to get it up to speed.

That's why Norris wasn't happy with it after testing and Ricciardo was well back after missing testing..yellow peril

Loving the Ferrari 1 - 2. All in all, a decent season opener. I'll be heading to Austin this year with my #16 shirt and #55 hat.

Ferrari 1-2 nice job Ferrari, the fans can finally be happy and have some major hope for the future!

So the w13 is still the best of the rest as suspected, and good on George for making it back to p4.

Tough luck for red bull, not sure if Honda is still contracted to help them engineer new parts if the reliability issue is deep seated. Can't be good news that 3/4 Honda powered cars DNF'ed.

Honda doesn't develop their engines anymore, redbull just pays them to maintain and build new ones, so I'm not sure how the new relationship will be. Also if it's a deep seated issue they might have to apply to the FIA for a part upgrade so that might or might not be problematic.
