Seriously, WTF is in the water over there in Munich? Must be 24/7 beer goggles on for someone to allow this shit to become reality.

Probably gonna sell well in some markets for sure although i do have some questions regarding that boot but we will probably se how useful it is compared to other SUVs in its segment.
SUVs of today are really weird cars overall they came to replace the minivans because no one wanted to drive minivans due to the stigma around soccer moms and it just being vans and now suvs have taken that place as the "cool" factor or the "okay" version of vans. But so many of them have been so ridiculously unpractical that you wouldn't be able to fit your whole family in them and all the baggage and stuff needed for certain road trips and such. Damn i remember my dads Chrysler Voyager that he had that thing was a ship to sit in and to be driven in. It was like a living room on wheels.

This has got to be BMW’s most impressive April Fools Day prank yet. They’ve outdone themselves. Those photos look extremely real! Bravo BMW, you fooled us!

I'm sure the i4 40i, will use the samme battery and package also. We can bash it all we want, but this is the car BMW will sell you within the EV range, it's supposed to be a Model X killer.

BMW just opened the door wide open for Apple's EV "Project Titan" with this debacle, as I would never consider to buy this. For some reason I think that ICE will be around a lot longer for us living on the East coast than Cali.

The further these 'I' cars are distanced from the 'M' cars the better, it's bad enough they have to share a BMW badge.
These i or ix cars are absolutely horrendous & are undoubtedly doing irreparable damage to BMWs' image. Looks like those tacky Chinese knock offs you see at the Chinese motor shows, who is designing this trash.

They could have designed the exterior so much better, how they ended up with that is actually unbelievable

Agreed beyond a doubt. That its the launch choice of the next generation.
Still this is what BMW actually wants, old timers like me (aged 45 ) with 12 past BMWs in a row to not like the design (see launch marketing). Thus please step forward in your hundreds of thousands the affluent millennials in their 20s with $100k to drop on these. Yea sure. |

The reactions range predictably from involuntary gastrointestinal regurgitations to sincere appreciation and purchase interest.
Waiting to schedule a test drive. Until then - focusing on studying technical specifications. |

The thing is these are no longer being designed for the American market as we are no longer it's biggest market.
The iX was designed for the Chinese market where bmw wants to hit big. Audi is a bigger seller their. Their are bigger incentives for the Chinese to buy electric cars and that's where bmw wants to hit big. |

To me it's the range. Like if in the end if it does 4.5 sec 0 to 60 I'm fine, but got to out range Tesla, which I don't think this will (or have to wait for some official test to confirm). charging has to be less a problem for most day yo day (given you just plug at home overnight then plug at work, unless you live in a city like me...), though I would think still difficult for "one car", even if you only do long road trip twice a year. |

I showed my wife the pictures and she said it looked great, "I'd drive one" - her 340 is going on 6yrs / 44k miles and I've been shopping for the past 6 months. This is 3yrs longer than I've ever kept a car for her...
I keep punting hoping a manufacturer comes out with an electric car that challenges Tesla. Ford is the first to actually have a challenger imo, good price / decent looks. My hope, the i4 comes out $20k cheaper but based on this pricing, I'm guessing $10-15k cheaper. I don't want to put a wet blanket on it yet but it has to do 1 thing better than anyone else. Range, luxury, tech, speed, price, etc. but I don't know what that is right now based on the release. Maybe feeling good about the non-conflict cobalt and green initiatives BMW is marketing. My $.02 |

It looks really odd in pictures so I hope it looks better in person like I think the new M3/M4 do.
