The i8 - as they say in Breaking Bad - this shit is the Bomb!

Its a fantastic car, I want one. Can't wait to test drive it.
Different strokes for different folks. I really like some of it, particularly the front grill and headlights are gorgeous IMO. The back half of the car just looks like a jumble though. It doesn't look like one solid, cohesive thought IMO. I also feel that the entire i series is trying too hard to look like something from a Tron movie. I get that they're high tech, but I think there is something to be said for combining high tech and understatedness like Tesla does. Trying too hard to look futuristic is a great way to make a car look dated in a hurry.

All of that said, it's out of my price range anyways so I don't have to worry about it! And I don't mean to be all negative on it - it has lots of amazing features and technology. It's just not my taste.

Higher hoodlines on 'normal' cars are required for the EU pedestrian protection rules than with something like the i8 because of engine placement and size. The rule is to allow enough crumple height of the hood so a pedestrian hitting it is unlikely to come to an abrupt stop by hitting the top of the engine...if the engine isn't there, or is smaller, depending on design, it could be much lower, thus allowing lots of vertical crumple and thus pass the regs.

Since the engine on this is in the rear, the hood only has to be high enough to clear any hard, immovable object below it.
