Thanks all for the nice comments, it's still a blast to drive and I'm almost at 3k kms without any troubles at all.
@P1et; yup it's in the 7% category. @Johncho81; It's a small world! (still have the Disney song in my head). Second mod after the window tint, black wrap to match the roof and rear. Yet at another Hyatt hotel but this time it's in Dusseldorf, Germany, yes it's the ultimate road trip car! The i8 had no trouble at all keeping up with the super cars on the Autobahn, everyone was impressed by the performance of this 'little hybrid'. |

Oh wow, gefeliciteerd man. Prachtige wagen.
Ben gelukkig niet de enige die geen fan van de turbo M motors is, hoe handig al dat koppel ook is. En de S85 was wel de machtigste M motor van allemaal. Dat zal wel even wennen zijn.

Here they are, the first pictures of my i8 v2!
The i8 has been on a car show for the past few days and today we are on our way for a film/photo shoot with a Dutch DJ so I haven't had the opportunity to take some good photo's yet but you will get an idea with these . Stickers are only on for the film shoot so they will be removed when done... |

The i8 isn't eventually going to replace any Ferrari's/etc... having lived with the i8 for a week last month: definitively going to purchase a final edition of this or similarly priced hybrid so to become a daily driver - and that's the difference.
Compared to the f430 spyder for example, in my case 2008, the i8 is much more of a relaxation or pleasure in a daily setting. Not just the obvious gas/insurance/etc... I'm referring to the fact that heavy rain sometimes pours in at the soft top seams (not cool driving highway speed), or the time needed to properly heat things up before wanting to have some fun... not to mention tire shredding issues, etc. The best thing about the i8 is that with the composite body holds up cheaper and worry-less than the thin aluminum body on the ferraris... I feel like I can only park the ferrari with 4 spaces to feel remotely comfortable, even getting spooked when wild kids start touching everything. That's no way to live - and I don't care to make enough to afford getting careless over such great handcrafted machines. The i8 won't hold up on the track (it eventually overheats and drastically reduces polar-shifting-versus-power-to-tires performance over time) compared to like the Ferrari 16M or even the hurracan and similar, but makes life enjoyable when it is something you get a thrill living with everyday. BTW JWDnl, that matte blue on satin gold is working - beautiful! Last edited by 0beron3sq; 12-02-2014 at 06:18 PM.. Reason: adding comment |

Don't like the blue and gold, even though I am a Bruin.

Small update from NL.
I finally got the chance to test the i8 in the snow and wasn't disappointed at all. Even though it's on summer tires the grip was pretty decent, in fact it was better than my X5 on summer tires. On slippery surfaces it sometimes was looking for grip but when it gripped it went off like a rocket, almost surreal. Let's hope we will see some more snow this year so I can throw dedicated winter tires on the OEM rims. People stating that the i8 doesn't have a fully functional 4wd system are talking nonsense, in deeper snow I never had the feeling that I would get stuck and the front and rear wheels where working in harmony to get the car through the snow. Oh and the OEM BMW sledge doesn't fit in the trunk.... It does fit on the rear seats... |
