Along this line does it feel like inventory is starting to build of i8's? Maybe the production is moving faster?

Doubt it. 555 were delivered in 2014 and BMW has not allocated that many more for 2015. Demand still exceeds supply. I suspect this dealer has a big markup on the car and is waiting for a whale to swim in.

No idea on the car other than it was just sold to the dealership from original owner who happens to go through quite a few high end cars. Jay is my sales adviser there. He knows the car. good luck to anyone looking to buy it. just saw it again this morning.

New to the blog so be gentle! In a story by BMWNA I believe, they had shown sales of the I8 at 1,741 , so are you sure about the 555 # ? Don't get me wrong, I am hoping for lower #'s! So again, where did you get that info? Thanks!

That's sold. Doesn't include unsold cars at dealerships or in transit/production. BMW reports sales through to customers each month.

I thought I read on some other threads here that there was a controversy over that. Someone posted that BMW reports deliveries to dealers as "sales." In the long run it probably doesn't matter, but over a short period of time it would.

This is from an independent source that tracks all sales in the US. The veracity of which I have little doubt. But you never know. Car companies are slippery.

There's been a contest for several years among BMW, Audi and Mercedes Refrigerator Company. BMW keeps winning, although Audi has narrowed the gap. Mercedes' refrigerators on wheels dropped from second to third and Audi has pulled away. (I guess people like to drive their cars rather than refrigerators.)

Because of that contest -- in which BMW counts all of its Mini sales (and probably the Rolls' sales, but that would be a small blip) -- there is an incentive to cheat. Oh, I mean, use every definitional advantage available to mankind. So, I wouldn't doubt BMW would count "dealer delivered" cars as sold, even when they are not in the hands of the ultimate consumer.

But, yeah, it's a slippery business. So who really knows.
