I wouldn't mind being son of Zeus. I'd take Larry wheels sized even. Or is that same thing.

Oh...I agree 100%.

I've actually got to watch him train once. Was with my training partner out on the West Coast for one of his competitions. We planned a few extra days to hit all the historic weightlifting sited that are still around.

But the thing that shocked me most was seeing Lee Priest at an Expo. He wasn't competing, but we'll over 250lbs and pretty lean.

I've never seen that much muscle on someone before. I was just in awe. But it also made me realize that even if it were possible, I wouldn't want to be that size.

Muscle or Fat....weight is weight as far as your heart is concerned to a great extent.

Don't mention Tren O Hearn on all natty's club. I used to be a huge fan of him but he is full of himself. You think he is natty at that age, and lifting those heavy ass weights, and as ripped as he stays. No way!

I concur! Although I am a huge fan of Lee Priest, and his vlogs...He is as honest as it gets in an industry where everyone lies about how natural they are. And I can listen to Dorian Yates all day...

The 4lbs is my daily swing sometimes 6. I wake up empty and fill up thru course of the day. I'm up probably 8ish lbs of water though.

So today was humiliating. It's our bench day, and the week we start bringing reps down. 3-5 in this session...about 6 constant sets, then an EMOM Set.

A I'm setting up our bench, my training partner tells.e not to bother as we going to substitute in a different Tier 1 exercise.

Floor Presses. We then set pins in the squat rack, lay on the floor. Unrack the bar, lower it our elbows hit, pause, then press back up.

Last week I was repping 330 for 7 I think....this week, I was lucky to get 6 sets of 305 x 5. Then we did EMOM with 200lbs.

I consider myself a textbook bencher with no momentum. But floor presses are a completely new ball game. It's been forever since I had last done them....now I know why.

It's definitely an eye opener to just how much momentum plays into things even whe you think you're replicating it on the bench. It's a great move for someone who is weak "out if the hole".

We do something similar with BB curls. Setup in a rack with the bar barely brushing our thighs. Straight bar curl up, and slowly let it back down to the pins...pause a second, and repeat.

Thought floorwork was for top half weakness as you cant get to bottom and need to start from stopped position mid way up. I'm strong off the bottom usually so thought it would help me mid and up.

Ended up doing a high volume upper chest.

Any body else use fitness as a means to defy mortality and at the same time realize your fight may cause your eventual demise. What you cherish so much will be taken away gradually or all at once despite efforts to prove impervious, or am I just 1 too many drinks in?

You forget...I'm short!!!

When my elbows are touching the floor, the bar is only a few inches from my chest!

I used to do them a lot in the past...and I felt like it helped me come out of the bottom of the bench.

But my training partner always said I had a weird bench. He was touch and go...and I would pause on my chest. He said it was like I was trying to adjust my form when I had the bar all the way down.

I'm a very strong pusher from about middle of the way up to lockout. But I do tend to keep my elbows tucked more bringing my triceps into it.

When I first started training, I could close grip bench as much or more than regular bench. My triceps were dominant. It's only been in the last 4-5 years that I have started flaring my elbows out more.

I get where you are coming from. It's a slippery slope! Going back through my training logs, I can see the decline starting right around the age of 40.

At first I thought it was a mental block..you know turning 40...yada, yada, yada.

But it's quite apparent when looking at it on paper...both from a training and nutrition viewpoint.

When younger, I could do anything with a weight...just a few sets of this and that, and I would make improvement. Same with diet, make a minor change...see an almost immediate impact.

But now, it's like I'm constantly having to "trick" my body just to maintain status quo.

Been watching lot of set up and how to trying to tweak my deadlift then failed pretty badly with 455 today. I'm more of a walk up and jerk it up rather then settle in and today messed with me a bit. Trying to engage lats and hamstrings more fully.

The guy with the you tube channel I posted earlier has a lot of great videos on setting up the deadlift. I like him because he makes it simple and provides easy cues to remember.

He and Alan Thrall have helped my form tremendously!

Yeah was watching allan thrall. Think it put me in too close to the bar getting me on my heels and off balance. Also low back hurts in a not good way which doesnt usually happen.

Yeah...he and Brian have done a few videos together.

Brian's you tube channel is so inspirational. Whenever I feel lazy, he has one video based on his brand "Neversate" that shows all of the injured service-men and service-women..and others in his gym doing strongman stuff.

These people are missing limbs and they are in the gym kicking ass. Every time I watch it , I get chills.

Really fires me up.

Plus my gym finally got one of those plate loading pivot bars for floor work. You put it under one side of the bar and tilt it back, and it lays on it's side raising the bar to the perfect height to load your plates. Then you do the other side.

Makes things a whole lot easier!
