For anyone interested in purchasing. The process at this point is a little different.
Preorders begin today at 6pm EST. You will select your preferred BMW center. Dealers do not get allocations. I have been told that if a customer preordered with dealer A and then cancelled at some point in the process. Dealer A does not automatically get that allocation for them to sell. It goes to the next person. I'm not sure how I fell about the car, so I've worked out something with a dealer and have agreed to select them as my preferred BMW center. |

That integral head restraint system in the seats looks odd and very uncomfortable. Haven't had the chance to read the full press release but what is the function/purpose of those?

I'm trying to find a single angle of that car that is not repulsive. Maybe from under?

Just tried pre ordering about 8 times with two different browsers and three different credit cards, every time it keeps failing or no confirmation is shown. Hopefully at least one of them went thru.

Whoever is running/approving their exterior design decisions does not have the skill they think they have. Come ON bmw, this is legitimately a really really poor design. Get it together!!

I think the same... something is not right with this design team. These are lazy designs, copying everybody else and discarding BMW styling like it was not that great to begin with.

I got the chance to see this thing in person. It's as ugly as in the pictures, and it feels cheap thanks to lots of plastic everywhere. The seats are huge, and the overall interior design feels like a van. It's priced like an X5, but it feels like a Skoda.

That price, those looks, not sure which is funnier. BMW really needs to just move on from their current designers, I think Bangle might be tired of designing washers and dryers.

I think the comment I'm about to make about its exterior will get me banned from this forum (as what happened to me on the 4 series forum). So instead of commenting on the looking, i'm going to say - cool tech.

I particularly enjoyed the landscape scenery in the photos while trying to not look at the vehicle.

Was there any info shared today regarding ADAS capabilities and what level of autonomy this car could achieve? What type of sensors (radar/camera/Lidar) it has?

I went into the preorder took with the wife to see how I'd feel with real numbers for the iX. Couldn't do it. The looks and lounge feel are what prevented us. In a heartbeat however we preordered the i4 M50. This is good step in the right direction. I'd gladly hand over 90k for an ICE X7 or X5 M50i but not the iX. It didn't seem like I was getting the utility of an x5.
I've owned them all. And I'm sure one day I'll try something in the iX lineup. Excited for our order to come to life. |

Did BMW not realize that the i3 was universally criticized as being really ugly? Here they go and make a suv design based off the i3. This thing would be a winner if the side profile looked more like the X5!
Hate the front and side profile, rear is alright, the interior is really nice tho!! |
