Yes, every dealer that is in the American Express Auto Purchasing program (https://amexnetwork.truecar.com/) will allow you put a minimum of $2k on an AmEx. I will check on the transaction fees and get back to you.

Did you bump the amount they wanted to charge by 3% or the entire vehicle price by 3%?

I paid my down payment and MSDs with my credit card at Open Road BMW in Edison and they had no problems taking it. I believe it was around $7500

I have purchased my 3 bimmers with CCs up to allowed max($7k, $7k, $5k) for points. The last one also hit minimum spend for around $1200 of sign-on bonus.

I bought from Niello BMW but in CA and they allowed to pay $5000 using a credit card. Small shops often ask for 3% fee if you use credit card.

When I bought from Autonation last year, I paid $10,000 using my debit card from foreign bank (with cashback as well).

I put 10k on my car on a card. $5k for the deposit when I ordered it. Another $5k during the purchase just to get them Amazon points. The rest I presented a loan check. Didn’t even think about the merchant fees the dealership would have to pay. They never brought it up.

My local BMW dealer won't allow for more than $500 to be placed on a credit card for a vehicle purchase. I bet I would have no problem using one in the service department for ten times that amount.

I believe it varies by dealership, but expect there is more flexibility to pay with $$$$ than to put money on a credit card.

If I remember correctly, deathwish, you don't need to use only their charge card. Instead of using it, you can just install their mobile application and add the credit card. Using a cashback card will be more profitable because you will have regular cashback on all your transactions, along with the discount applied for using the application. I have used this method for 2 years, and it works perfectly. For example, you can use the credit card from this article. They all have a good cashback % and are working all over the US and Canada https://www.youngandthrifty.ca/best-...ard-in-canada/.

Yes, as mentioned, it is entirely at the discretion of the dealership. The typical range allowed without having to pay the credit card fee is $3,000 - $5,000.

My dealer allowed $5000 just yesterday. They said the limit is state law (FL)… I didn’t verify.

Same ^^. Initially, I was told 3k max, but I asked them to take 5k, and they did.

Dealer would never want to do that—they get charged like 2% of the purchase price by the CC companies…max I've seen is deposit up to a certain amount like $2-3k

North of the 49th Parallel they just make it legal for esthablisement to pass on the % that the credit card charge them...

Well, I will either, just leave the stuff at the cash or in case of restaurent I will spew the meal at the cash and pay nothing...
