M50 ordered, no help from dealer.

Hello All: I decided to order an M50 as the build I was looking for was not available. The dealer offered a 5% discount off MSRP which sounded OK.

I signed an agreement and paid a deposit December 20th and have been asking for some kind of time frame from my salesperson. All he will say is not in production yet.

Any help on what to ask for? Any idea what kind of time frame I may be looking at to take delivery here in Florida?

Thanks!

I guess it depends on whether the dealer has an allocation currently. If they do, than looks like 3 months or so from order to delivery from what I'm seeing on forums.

Yep, most likely waiting for an allocation. Some dealers will trade for one if they didn’t get one themselves for the car you want that month.

FWIW I ordered my i4M50 just before Thanksgiving. Luckily they got an allocation in December and from there it went rather quickly and finished production the week before Christmas.

It’s been “At the port” since which, given the holidays isn’t a surprise. I’m expecting to take delivery here on the east coast late-February or early-March.

Ask him point blank for a production number. If he doesn’t give you one then contact a broker: Hans Yu Next Level Auto Brokers next level auto brokers. Don’t mess around with stupid dealers that play games, you have better things do with your time.

You will get a production number when he has an allocation

Thanks for the help folks.

I guess I should have checked regarding an allocation.

I guess I could be in for a long wait. Would it be appropriate to ask for my deposit back if the dealer cannot place an order?

Immediately yes. They lured you in with a shadow allocation. Next batch of allocations drop near end of the month. A broker can definitely help to secure an actual allocation.

Wow. You will have to be patient. Some of use waited 6-18 months (or longer!) for an allocation last year!
The dealers DO NOT HAVE any timeframe while waiting on an allocation. Maybe they could have explained this better. They are separate from BMW, and wait on info like all of us. So until your car is scheduled for Production you won't hear anything.
If you decide you can't wait, then def get your $ back.

Use a broker. My brother is a VP of a major auto group in NJ and he couldn't help me when I wanted an M50 a year ago. He referred me to a broker who was able to connect me with a local allocation which cut my wait time in half.

I paid MSRP plus $500 to the broker. Well worth it considering the original dealership I went to wanted $5k over sticker.

DM me if you want me to provide the brokers' info. He is active on this site.
