We went for BBQ takeout today and let ours stretch it's legs a bit. Beautiful backroads between our house and our favorite BBQ place. Very rural and nice roads.

Been watching old boxing on ESPN. Yesterday was most of Ali's bigger fights.
Watching again, it just amazed me at how great he was fighting "off the ropes" and "slipping punches". He really showcases that in the bouts with Foreman. Every time I re-watch these types of fights, I see subtle nuances I missed before.

I type too much to tolerate a watch or anything else around my wrist.
I've been passing (my free) time mostly by ordering parts and installing them on the zed. Clutch + flywheel + hydraulics, short shifter, driveshaft guibo and center bearing, whizbang motor mounts, a bunch of other smaller items because I had access to them and the car is 12 years old. Inflicted some sort of trauma to the middle finger on my right hand somehow. I truly have no recollection of doing anything to it violent enough to have caused the considerable swelling and soreness. But there we have it. |

I went through the scientific/test equipment on Amazon this morning, piecing together the things that I'll need for my next home science project. I wonder if ordering a case of centrifuge tubes and corrosive material handling tubes will get me put on a terrorist watch list?????

I have been hosting a simple WordPress web site and email forwarder on one of my shared web hosting service for a local club for many years now. It is the last thing on that hosting account, and the $150 annual renewal is coming up next month. I figured that it would take me two hours to migrate it to Amazon AWS LightSail, where it should only cost me $42/year to run the virtual server.
Although I use AWS for other things both personally and at work, I never used LightSail before today. Moving the WordPress stuff was only half an hour. The mail forwarder? The only way to receive emails into LightSail (or EC2) is a convoluted hack through their email sending service. They block incoming/outgoing SMTP traffic from being used by hit-and-run spammers. I applaud them for doing this...but it means that I have to kludge together their convoluted hack to do something that should have taken me 5 minutes to finish.....

Long winded way of saying I sympathize. Hosting sites for others is often a pain. I keep trying to extricate myself from it, but it's hard to do.

I've used more gas than usual.. Going on multiple drives from such boredom. Otherwise I'm constantly washing my car and bike (raining on and off lately) and playing cod :

Just finished setting up a MAMP server to stream my Fulgaz videos to my Apple TV 4K. My Apple TV is just a 32GB version and the Fulgaz 4K vids are around 10GB for an hour long video, so you can't fit more than a couple on the actual Apple TV box. And sometimes straight streaming of Fulgaz over the web gets iffy. With the MAMP server running on my Mac Mini, I have a TB of room to store vids. Streams nice and smooth over my wifi.
Might as well put all this technology to work.

Fast forward another year... needs another fuckin battery. At this point I was like ok this is going through batteries a bit fast. Took it to a local timekeeper store and they changed it for like 15 bucks lol. Fast forward to this year... thought battery went bad again and took it to the local timekeeper and he said the battery is still good but the movement is bad... replacement is 150 dollars. WTF? The watch was like $350, so obviously not worth it. Thought Tissot was a good brand... has anyone had a shit experience like this? |

Went for a long drive last night and snapped some pics. I need more practice. I also checked out this building thats been closed down for a while. It would make a cool, detail shop, or small antique mall.

I've never set up a streaming media server before, so the coolness factor is there for me. I can't say whether MAMP works better than Plex, but I think it's cool you can watch a stored video on any device in a browser but just going to http://servername/filename.mp4.
