The different i8 20” wheels, data ?

I have tried to find data on weight for the different types 444, 470 516 bi-color and 625. Looks like the new 516 is slightly lighter than the others bud can’t find any data to support that.

Some of the weights are here but not the 516. I also didn't realise the 516 was available in different configurations, the 444 is 7" and 7.5" while 470 and 625 are 7.5" and 8.5"

But 516 wheels are available in 7" and 7.5", another option is 7.5" and 8", then finally 7.5" and 8.5". It seems to be colour related which is weird, perhaps a Coupe and Vert difference or all-season vs high performance tyres?

Had a bit of a play, on the Coupe you can get the jet black and bicolour options for 516, both are 7.5" and 8". On the Vert you can get the silver ones as well which are 7" and 7.5" but still not the matt black ones which are the widest. The options are on this page.

Interesting ! I find it a bit strange that bmw suggest 215 ET40 for winter wheels on all four. I insisted on having 516 with mix tyres on my new Roadster. It just looks unattractive with the 7,5” ET40 on the back. Can’t see any good reason for this policy from Bmw.

Might be because in Germany those are actually the only winter wheels available that are road legal.

Potentially they are worried about snow chains fouling with the body?

Yes! Thats the argument I received from Bmw. I insisted on having the correct mixed 516 bi-bicolor fitted for winter on my new Roadster. I have never seen anyone using chains together with new Nordic Nokian tyres here in Norway. It makes no sense... BMW kind of agreed to that argument but there is a additional cost compared to the all round 215 on 7-7,5” rims, but the i8 Roadster is a lot about looks?
