iX3 is on the way

After i3 launched, BMW didn't have a pure electric vehicle for long time, almost 10 years. All other European premium brands has joined the market since then. Finally, BMW will launch iX3 on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10:00 CEST (= Munich Time). Is it too late or is it a well prepared electric war?

There can't truest be a war if you don't show up. The US is one of the bigger markets and we don't get one. Seems like a white flag has been waved here.

Nope.

US dealers poo-pooed iX3, and for a good reason - it's an all around "meah" of a car.
https://www.theverge.com/2020/7/14/2...e-china-europe

0-60 in 6.8 seconds is "meah".
~250 mile range (285 on unrealistic European WLTP) from 80kWh battery is "meah".
X3 cabin size and interior quality are "meah".
$77+K price tag is a no-go.

Competing against Model 3 / Model Y, it's dead on arrival.

You can say all of the above (ok, with some improvements) about i4 as well, yet that will be sold in US...

I'm an i3 driver, LOVE the car, hate the range, hate the options-to-MSRP ratio. Really want to get the i4 next year (I even freaking like the hideous grill), yet can't justify the almost sure $70+K price tag vs a Model 3 or Y. Why are you doing this BMW?!!!

Tesla is meah all the way around except straight line performance, build quality is pretty appalling and customer service is worse. BMW all day everyday, have the I3 and I8 and love them.

Wow, really? I own both, Tesla destroys the BMW i3 in every category except one. BMW dealers have better coffee and snacks. i8 has already fallen on it’s sword, it’s been sunset.

I have friends with Tesla problems including new windscreen which will not seal because the roofline is designed so badly and other issues the customer service don't give a toss. They just do not compare quality wise.
