i3 REX emergency fuel flap pull cord broke

The fuel flap door on our 2015 often doesn't work with the button (now wondering if we have a faulty fuel pressure sensor) so we resort to pulling the green cord in the frunk. Unfortunately, the last time I did that, I effectively ripped the cord out, while trying to get the fuel door to open. I have been unable to find any 'how to' articles ore videos on how to repair that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

TIA

The cord is Part Number 51257016702 ("Pulling strip f emergency mechanism") and the pull handle is Part Number 51258234143 ("Emergency Mechanism").

This shows how the cable is connected:

You can reach the cable by removing the rear section of the front wheel arch cover.
