Out of nowhere my computer had a warning bubble pop stating that a USB device is not being recognized, and I havent even plugged anything into it.
Im attaching the warning messages, I did some research and people are stating to update my F5 BIOS and they give a link, but the link is in Chinese. What do I need to do Machine HP Dv4, came with Vista 64 now running W7 64 bit Last edited by CollinsE90; 10-30-2010 at 03:22 PM.. |

are you familiar with flashing the bios? you should be able to download from the official HP site and go from there.
Laptops will do this there are a billion possible reasons that I can try to point you int he right direction, but flashing the bios is the first step |

Just google for "lavalys everest" and then download the Everest Ultimate Edition.
Once you've installed that and rebooted you can go into the Everest program and into the hardware section. You will see an unknown USB device. When you bring up the properties it should tell you enough info to find out what it is and get the right driver for it. (I'd be more specific but the trial I have installed is expired) Seems a lot more simple/less risky than flashing the BIOS, especially when whatever device you accidentally enabled might be handy? |

If you don't have anything plugged in it might be the actual port causing problems.
Try right clicking on the 'unknown' device and uninstalling. Restart your computer and see if it reinstalls the drivers properly. |
