I have always taken pride in "modding my cars very Tastefully" over the many years and cars I've owned. I always like to personalize them. Some of those touches may never be seen or noticed to the untrained eye. But I know they are there.
Case in point... I found some aluminum or stainless steel (either way, I'm pleased) iDrive Button Covers for my F01.

I can't explain it but somehow my home loses forks/knives/spoons regularly. I filled in some missing pieces by buying à la carte units from my supplier of choice Liberty Tabletop. Made in USA. 🇺🇸

Those look very classy. It really improves contrast by allowing the black trim ring to be an accenting point as well now.

I have that same problem. I have 2 step-sons, early 20's still in the nest. They eat a lot of take out, so best I can figure is that they leave them in the take out containers and in the garbage they go.

Had the same issue. When my daughter moved out....the disappearing acts mysteriously stopped.

Of course they're chameleons! You think I'm going to buy 3 boots with different colors?

I’ve been wanting these ever since I bought the Ikon steak knives a few years ago, which I love. Now that we have a vacation condo where we can move our 20-year old lower-grade Henckels set, I have an excuse.

I bought a starter 7 piece set (which is really 4 knives + block + shears + steel) along with an additional serrated knife separately. Block has room for 4 more knives if we so choose. On sale at Williams-Sonoma but still effing expensive. Looking forward to using them on Christmas Eve now that the money is out the door.

Nice, those are similar to my Clarks chukka boots but a little higher quality I'm guessing. Are they pretty comfortable right out of the box, or do they need some time to break in?

I bought a Wusthof classic starter set years ago which was money well spent. Quality knives work so much easier compared to the cheap Farberware set I was using previously.

German quality, can't go wrong
It's amazing how often I encountered German products last year at my US trip, aside of the cars for sure.
Did you get a fair price or did it cause some extra taxes caused by european products punish tolls?

They were expensive but don't think it is due to tariffs. They are high quality and costly. At least I caught them on sale (which seems rare) and the basic set includes the knives we use most often.

Aside from BMW (and Audi) and the knives, we also have a Miele vacuum and Bosch dishwasher and I have been using Braun razors for years. So yeah there is pretty good representation of German engineered products in our home.

Some people prefer to buy only home country / local products and others prefer or need to always go with lowest price. I prefer to buy quality even if it sometimes means waiting a bit. Almost all of our furniture is U.S. made (Ethan Allen in our house, before they started offshoring, as well as some stuff in our condo made by the Amish), as are the new windows we had put in our house. I am also a big fan of Allen Edmonds shoes, which has also started to offshore.

But we have products from all over. We buy what we think is the best combination of quality / price. If that is the U.S. (and often it is) then great, but otherwise we go with what we think is best for us. To each their own.
