Car needs to be on flat surface steering wheel pointed straight
1. Car should be in sport mode, but not in manual sport. Should be in S1. 2. Tap the traction control once 3. Put the brake all the way down on the floor and hold it down. Do not let up. 4. While holding break down, mash the accelerator to the floor. 5. Launch control should light up on the HUD. 6. Once it's lit up release the break asap and your good to go. Keep the accelerator to the floor when you lift off the brake. Let me know if it works |

BTW...I loved your response to the jackass in the NSX thread. Perfect way to shut up a keyboard warrior. You own one of my dream vehicles. The 458. I've driven them a couple of times and they are amazing!

Yea, you have to mash it to the kick-down I think. And quickly.

Hi guys,
I tried the step guide from TaxDr but... not works... The traction control has 2 ways to be excluded: 1) tap 2) press and hold Which is the difference? Can TaxDr send a video? probably i'm stupid, but doesn't work. (when I tried I was full E charge - 20km). |

Did you buy the car new? I believe there is a limit of 100 launches before it won't let you do any more - presumably to protect the drivetrain long-term.
Would be good to know if there's a way to see how many times it has been used for people who didn't buy new. Not saying this is true for your car but a possibility...

There's a BMW Driver's Guide app. Within it, you can use your car's VIN to download and electronic, searchable version of the manual. I find it quite useful. It describes Launch Control in detail.

Page 49 on the technician's intro document. It's a good doc to read, gives you lots of info on the whole drivetrain. Also, the users manual mentions a few different details such as don't steer when engaging LC - presume the computer might refuse if you're not pointing straight ahead!

Let's the manufacturer prove they have no liability if they show their systems had no fault.

I'm not surprised really. All cars using launch control experience massively higher stress and wear. Their gearboxes will either fail prematurely, or, they have to be restricted in this way.
I've never used LC on mine because of this. And when test driving (for example, a F458 Speciale) I have not been permitted to use LC. |
