You couldn't make this up if you tried. Technology has thwarted Darwin but the stupidity is pushing it's way to the top!

I’m honestly not surprised. Further proof that society continues on its downward spiral.

Ask yourself. If there wasn't social media, would people do this? The answer is "no". And here I rest my case: social made will be the downfall of society.

Yup, it's just everyone trying to impress or one-up one another, gets really old. That's why I don't follow normal people and mainly business/entreprenuer/trading/networking people/groups.

Mate, "entrepreneurs" and "traders" are also complete social media tools.

I'm not talking the huge social media promoters, I'm talking people I actually know or have met in person and networking with them,trading/sharing ideas, analysis, etc...

Nah, it won't be the downfall. Looking at the younger generation, especially the boys, they couldn't care less about social media. Social media seems to be a thing mostly for the 30-50 year-olds. The media overexposes everything just because they need some material to show. The fact that something shows up in the media does not mean that most people care about it. It's like the PC sh*t - someone says something and somebody else is like - aha, look at this bigot, racist, misogynist, whatever. Trolling is a sport of sorts. Ask left and right if people care or get offended and you will find that they don't. If we stop visiting content we disagree with just so that we say we do, the traffic to those locations will drop and BS like that won't bubble up in the search engines and the media.
With regards to Bird box, I really like Sandra in comedies. There was one dramatic scene in this movie where she acted terribly. Stick to the comedies, Sandy! I enjoyed the movie nevertheless. It's not great, but given all the crap Hollywood spews out, this is a decent product.

Can't agree. This case is just another bad example for spreading the whole sh*t around within minutes and you would surely agree that this wouldnt happen w/o social media.
Some things lose their dramatic when just talking it over via phone and if you have not a moving picture or an instruction how-to most ppl wont try.
Since smartphones are ruling the world you wouldn't see young ppl without it, filming, tagging, texting and most annoying whats apping voice chats.
Its maybe nice to be ready everytime, but it isnt smart to act ready if necessary or not.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I understand the benefits of social media but feel it is far outweighed by the downsides. Social media is basically a tool that capitalizes on the inherent flaws of human psychology. We are an emotion-driven species and thus, many of the most basic and most vapid/shallow emotions are exploited and frankly rewarded by this tool.

Attention seeking, virtue signaling/moral superiority, outrage, etc. All basic human emotions which were better controlled, or shall I say less rewarded, by society before the social media age. Most millennials and obviously the younger generation don't know of a world without all this nonsense.

I still remember high school so well as it wasn't even 10 yrs ago, but it's crazy to think of how much has changed in the world since then! Even when I started undergrad most of this shyt besides Facebook wasn't around.

I was going to say that you’re just now finding this out? Then I was going to post a video from YouTube of someone doing something way more stupid but there were too many choices to pick from so I gave up.

And we used to have "Wars" with bottle rockets (with a fair amount making their way indoors) so no generation has a monopoly on stupid.

I guess social media just makes it more irritating because it's impossible to avoid

Hahaha. I guess I am a pioneer of sorts.

50 minutes into this crap movie, I went upstairs and tied a blindfold around my eyes. When I came downstairs I said I'm going to wear it for watching the rest of the movie, unless we can turn it off and watch something else.

true story.
