More evidence why Tesla should have concentrated on development and production of EV drivetrains and left the design and build of automobiles to the experts. Think of the progress Tesla could have made on battery and motor technology had Elon not tried to develop a car company.

Looks like Tesla is bringing back free unlimited supercharging for new Model S and Model X customers. I wonder how long this will last before they pull the plug on it.

Probably when Tesla is voluntarily or involuntarily sold to a larger manufacturer.

Saw that video in YT this week. Expected from the factory (tent) that produces random outcomes.

I've always assumed that was Elon's end play. Ditch the car company and provide the battery, motor and recharging footprint to the industry. I had assumed the Model 3 introduction was just his way of getting the recognition to make that happen. But he fooled me and is still at it. The Model Y is just going to further empower him. My predictions suck.

Torque to the wheels is multiplied by the gear ratios. So in the M8 take engine torque at 553lbft, multiply by 5 for first gear, then 3.15 for second gear and you get 8710lbft.

I'm not an engineer nor have I ever driven a train, but I don't think an M8 can do burns out like that thing.

A lot of the angst you see directed toward Tesla is because most members are here to talk about BMW and their products. Sure, we welcome criticism and interesting comparisons between BMW models and other makes' competing models, but it can reach a critical point to where it just becomes tiresome.
I think you hit the nail on the head. In some of the forums Iím on it seems Tesla Model 3 owners are a little over the top with their cars vs other cars saying how much better they are, how they annihilate the other cars in terms of performance, etc. What kind of reaction would you expect if you are on another car forum boasting about another car? How do you think people on a Porsche forum would feel if ZR1 owners boasted about the performance of their car? Easy answer, the same.

Yeah, I obviously don't mind threads discussing tesla, and reading about real world experiences regarding ownership. It's also perfectly fine to read what advantages their cars have over bmw and other brands.

It becomes obnoxious when the excessive defensiveness starts, or having to read repeatedly how our cars suck and we'd all be better off with a Tesla, and how anyone who denies tesla is the future is merely a Luddite who's stuck in the mid 20th century.

There are a few here that behave as if they receive incentive to promote tesla. I realize they don't structure their sales and marketing in a conventional way, but they still have to promote the brand somehow, and to some degree. I'm not saying it's true, but sales personnel can be fairly easy to spot online.... Regardless of why some tesla fans are so passionate and defensive of the brand, it tends to have the opposite effect after a while. When the proponents become cult like, I pretty much lose interest.

BMW has its hands full trying to compete against the money losing Tesla brand. After all how does a company compete against a competitor where profit isn't a concern for its investors?

Tesla is losing money but will survive because Elon Musk is very smart.
And he is way ahead from everyone.

Bmw has fall behind big time, even Porsche is bringing mission E that everyone wants it.
