From my own experience, all that really matters is consistency and being honest with yourself about "giving it your best shot."

If I find myself plateau-ing, I take a few days off, go down in weight on whatever exercise it is, and do 3 sets till failure.

When I come back, I'm able to start moving up again.

I know for a fact I don't give it my best shot with cardio, but its something I want to fix

Did shoulder work last night. Went about an hour after a poor meal of beans and quesadillas. First set and my stomach felt so empty I almost went to check if I was hypoglycemic. Instead started drinking water between sets since I was right next to fountain.

Finished, but when I got home I raided the Oreos that have been sitting in the cupboard for over a week. Took a full dose of insulin larger than my normal meal, yet still 306 this morning

Off for my massage in about 15

Haven't been hitting the weights as hard as I want to... Getting ready for a physical fitness test and need to be able to run two miles relatively quick. Still lifting, just not as heavy and adding a lot more running for the last month or so. Once the test is over (in two weeks), I'll be back at it. One thing I did notice, even though I wasn't running too often (I like to mix up my cardio while lifting), as my squats improved, so did my run. Didn't take me too long to get back into running 4 to 5 miles at a relatively quick pace.

I'm happy running my 5 miles in about 40-45 minutes. I never was very good at running, just good enough to get by. Swimming, now that's a different story. I am still pretty quick, not quite like I used to be in high school though.

My motto.....

....if you're not occasionally injured, you're either not learning/gaining experience or you're not working out hard enough.

I had every intention of doing legs early pm Friday but didn't make it until Saturday squats 4x11@115 then 1x10@135. I had nothing left for the hack squat as my last set though. Working the muscle beach with no shirt I'm starting to see some definition under the layers of fat

OK, squats on Saturday when you have a soccer game on Sunday isn't the smartest of moves. We had 1 sub for the first half, I was out about 5 minutes because I lacked coordination and couldn't make a decent pass. Second half it was all hands on deck. About 2 hours after the game I was snoozing on the couch waiting for Game of Thrones when suddenly the right hamstring cramps up. GOD, I hate that feeling, and this one was longer than most. It probably lasted 45 seconds, but seemed like hours. I was able to keep the left relaxed enough while struggling to pull my toes back that the left didn't join in the fun.

Were you hydrated enough?

Hydration doesn't really explain how bad my coordination was at the beginning of the game. I had a 28oz Gatorade between 12:45 (watching my grand-niece play) and the start of my game at 3:00. I had a 12oz bottle of water at halftime. Temps were upper 60s with wind blowing.

Post-game I had a Seagram's ginger with dinner, then a 12oz cup of water. After the cramp I ran some decaf and then another glass of water into me. When I got home from GoT, I had potassium, B-complex, and colon cleanse with 2 glasses of water. I made it thru the night with no surprises.
