Looks like the 21s on the M70 will be all season

They inflate the MSRP?

In my state, they recently changed the legislation to tax the sale price of the vehicle.

Yes. And that helps with the lease payments, because the depreciation is calculated over the higher MSRP. That's why you can lease an iX for less than an X3 M50

They could have identical results with a lower inception price and proportionally higher residue calculation.

I suspect BMW is playing an accounting/insurance game with the discount program. I’m 16 months into a 36 month lease and my currentpayoff is listed as $71,000. After all upfront discounts (approximately $20,000), my lease inception value was about $76,000. I paid zero down but I’ve made 16 payments of approx. $1,000 per month and yet my current payoff is still $71,000? My buyout at lease end is about $48,000. Obviously the calculated payoff is not linear with payments made and/or the eventual residual value.

The simple math is that payoff = residual + sum of remaining payments. So it is linear with regard to residual & outstanding payments.

And yeah, I suspect BMW is doing things this way for accounting and brand positioning reasons. Regardless, they are likely to end up with a crapton of cars that are worth a lot more on the books than the wholesale market will pay.

Yeah I noticed this as well. The payoff amount on BMWFS is way out of line with the math of residual + remaining principal.

I've also noticed it fluctuates - this past month I checked it 3 times out of curiosity before my next lease payment went through, and the payoff amount was a different number each time (fairly significantly so - like hundreds different, and both up and down).

I'd expect/hope it gets much closer to the residual as the lease gets closer to maturity. I still have a little under 2 years.

Another ? for you hb

Are the non-M Multi-Function Seats the same as the existing seats? Judging by the configurator (UK, for example), the non-M seats look like they have a shorter bottom.

I took pictures of the standard and M Sport versions from the exact same angle in the configurator and overlaid them. Looks like you're onto something—provided that the configurator images are accurate!

I requested a quote from my local BMW dealer and received a digital brochure where the illustrations are on the same level as their Individual Visualizer. Makes you wonder why they don’t update the standard configurator to that level.

He confirmed it in his review of both the iX45 and the M70.

Same seats (original) on the 45 and 60
New seats on the 70

The seat on the 70 also slopes towards the back whereas the one on the 45/60 are the same as the original that are more "flat" than inward sloping.

Yep! hb confirmed right after the test drives. The LCI has many threads.
