Yes, that has been BMW's stated long-term plan. The iX is a one-and-done bespoke platform and car.

Because of what it is and how BMW approached it, the iX may be the best electric SUV of this decade. And IMHO, it is the best all-around BEV of all segments.

I hope to get a new iXM70 lease when mine is up (April 2027) before they kill it off. If not, buy it off lease. It’s that good! And I don’t have faith the NK will be that good… but we’ll see

My lease is up in Oct 2026. While this update is appealing, especially the additional range and hitch availability, the NK might be preferable if range is better yet and charging speeds are faster. For traveling, charging speeds are not especially impressive for the IX. Yes, better than some, but not great for a $100,000 vehicle.

While faster charging would be nice, I think the current iXs charging is pretty good. Apparently it will improve a bit, but I doubt the NK is going to be vastly better.

And honestly, for me, most charging isn’t done at DCFC stations.

And when it is, I need enough time to find a bathroom. If it charges too fast, id have to charge then move the car to wherever the bathroom and stop again. The mall or Walmart are particularly hard - by the time charging starts and you walk inside and pee, it’s practically time to turn around and go unplug! (Malls are the worst EA locations FWIW).

Is that base price on the M70 a typo? Starts at $111,000 before destination?

While the LCI certainly appears to have improved the looks of the iX (which is not hard to do considering how ugly it was to start), there is nothing offered here to justify this kind of pricing. Figure at least $120k with 1 or 2 key packages/options.

I had a loner M60 for a week and found myself liking the car more than I thought (at least to drive, the interior and tech interface were pretty poor) but seriously, who would actually spend that much money on one of these? The interior is just so cheap feeling, especially the Veganza and the slab door panels.

Buying into anything other than an 800v platform at this point makes very little sense at this price point.

They can set whatever MSRP, market determines the price. My brother bought a MY24 M60 with 3k miles for 72k last week, stickered at 119k, nearly 50k off. In Maryland.

Nobody. BMW has been discounting these by 20%+ for almost 2 years. And offering lease residual & rate incentives on top of that.

The $120K M60 is selling for around $95K these days. It is a pretty freakin' amazing car for $95K.

You can rent (lease) a loaded M60 for three years for around $40K. That's a third of its MSRP.

Does anyone know if the m70’s steering wheel use the red 12 o’clock marker? Hoping they stopped this practice on non M cars. I realize m70 is an m performance model.

Front bumper area looks a lot better. Undecided on the rear bumper, I could take it or leave it. I love the new patterns on the grille. Haaaaaate the light-up grilles - if you have the illumination, can you turn it off? DRL signature looks better than I'd thought; I think the old one flows better with the headlight design and this new diagonal will be better on the NK models, but it still works. Give me the squircle steering wheel though! The rest all seem like positives. I'd probably spring for a 60 if I were in the market in a few years; I've got until Dec 2026 on my lease which seems to kind of overlap with the inflection point of the iX5 debut, though I'm less excited about that as it will share an ICE platform. But I'm keen on the NK iX3 to see how that compares.

They’re leasing them as I did with a substantial discount off MSRP. I find the interior gorgeous and luxe particularly with the optional leather.

The iX is an awesome vehicle for sure, and I love it, but let's not get nuts here. There are EVs that beat it in virtually every category out there now, range, charging speed, 800v platform, battery tech, cargo space. Just look at the Lucid Gravity as an example.

Charging speeds will be faster as the NK is on a next gen 800v platform.

With the way EV sales are going, I don't see how they can't if they want to actually want to move them.
