It’s funny the wheel measurements are inches while the widths and profiles are metric.

There is a fantastic SNL Nate Bargatze skit that touches on this. Popular sports are measured in feet and yards. Unpopular sports are measured in meters.

European socket wrench sizes are still in inches, yet they only snap into metric sockets.

Ditto, I love the way the 22s look. But they decrease efficiency. I would happily pay for cool looking wheels like those, but in 20".

Spare the tangent, but I love that skit:

I think there was a second one made as well where they were crossing the Delaware lol

I still dislike the illuminated snizz on all the new models.

Sure, I could spend time and money to make the things I want happen, but if I'm leasing and generally wanting to minimize the number of things I have to do in life and spend extra money on, then I'd prefer that reasonable options be available straight from the manufacturer. Hell, even if I'm not leasing, I still expect a luxury manufacturer to give access to a better slate of off-the-rack options. BMW makes a zillion different wheels, and somehow the only options for the iX are the ugliest and most oversized few of the whole lot.

At the low end, it's beyond crazy to me that they've stuck with the world's ugliest 20" wheels since inception. And for that matter, it's insane that 20" is the smallest option available. Throw a bone out there to the small but measurable community of us who don't equate wheel size with luxury, particularly in the EV world in which efficiency is under the microscope. And if you don't care about efficiency, then ride comfort must matter to more than a few of us!

For the interior, in 2025, there's no reason for Sensatec to still be used over Sensafin. Not a huge deal to me, since I'd spec my next one with the real leather again, but why intentionally use a lower end material for a supposedly flagship vehicle? Sensatec belongs on a Chevy Malibu, not a BMW, and certainly not their flagship electric SUV.

I guess more than anything, I'm bummed they stuck with a bunch of decisions (frameless windows, mandatory glass roof, wheel choices, interior materials, etc etc) that I disliked with version 1.0, and since my lease is up in 2 years, it looks like I'm going to have to figure out some stopgap solution until the next generation of this car or some competitive alternative comes out, because I don't see myself re-upping with my third iX with this lackluster update and set of worse options than exists with the outgoing model.

And I actually like the hexagircle steering wheel, and it seems like you can't get it on the m70

But hey...now you can make the schnoz light up. If there's any part of the iX that needed to call more attention to itself, it's that!

I’m curious how many people on this forum actually end up moving to something else. There really are no cars that compare, IMHO. The Lucid Gravity is probably the closest, but a lot of unknowns.

100%. Which is why I'm frustrated because there's a solid chance I end up with another iX, only with a less comfortable ride than I currently enjoy. Either that or step down from the m class and suck it up and roll with the 20" wheels, but omg they're rough.

Multi-million dollar marketing videos for cars feel very cliche in 2025. Is this what the target audience for $100K BEVs wants/expects? Serious question.

Looks like decent LCI, though.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here. Many of us do prioritize luxury over efficiency. However, in BMW's defense I understand there are business reasons for them to make their EVs as efficient as possible, so it means not offering "better looking, less aerodynamic tires", and not even allowing us to "Set Sport Mode As the Default", all in the name of showing governments around the world that they are more efficient and deserve larger EV manufacturing tax credits.

But for those of us who don't care, it's a relatively easy and inexpensive swap. I got this 20" tire + wheel set from Tire Rack for $1,400 total. I've probably lost 5% efficiency, but I couldn't stand the ride harshness of the stock 22"s and as you mention the stock 20"s are very "dorky" to me!!

I really hoped that they would light up the whole front grille instead of just the rim.
It would have been so much more of a presence and improvement of the visual impact.

Cool looking for sure. But, it would have been so much more of a presence and improvement of the visual impact.
People blinded by looking at your front grille at night through their rear view mirror might not appreciate that though!!

lol just a translucent and subdued and classy background light to showcase those slanted textures of the new front grille. Let’s say, half of the lumens of the lighted rim?
I have definite seen Mercedes with a lighted front grille with the whole grille lit. Or at least I think I did. 😂

I don’t think that would work with current DOT laws. Also, some European countries (Germany is one I think) don’t allow any part of the grill to light up as it interferes with the headlights.

I like the LCI, especially the headlights but that grill is way too large to be illuminated.

This is best facelift on any BMW since the E90. Really really well done with just few tweaks, it transforms this cars face. I still liked lower black portion making it look a little "slimmer" but the bumper designs are perfect. I will miss the blueish interior though, that was cool.

I like the lighted grille. Why not!

I like the hex wheel too, but I think I will appreciate the thick M wheel more. I think BMW should at least give the option to get the hex on the M Sport (or M70).

No one should expect that frameless windows would be changed in an LCI. Not going to happen.

The solid roof is available on the 45. So you could save a lot of money and get that model without the pano roof. I really wish there was a power operated moonroof option. Alas.

And yes, on the wheels I too wish there was a nicer 20" option. The 20" looks like absolute trash.
