Agreed. I flipped out on a guy during a fight in high school. I wasn't even mad when we started fighting, that changed quickly. The fight culminated with me forcing his face to make friends with a nearby tree. I still felt really bad when I saw what I did to him after. All over some girl that I didn't even really care about. The stupid things we do as kids.

Same here, I once put my brother head first into a corner of a cabinet. I think I had soaked up two towels with blood before my mom found us with me trying to keep it on the "down-low".

He got about 30 stitches in his scalp, and I got the A$$ whooping of a lifetime from my dad!

^ I'm not certain that my parents even found out, although I think the neighbor told them a few days later. Body blows don't show up as readily as gushing head wounds.

Ouch. I've gone pretty crazy on my younger brother (who can kick my butt anytime - lot bigger than me) and my dad had to step in and separate us because it was not going to end well for either of us, but that was once and never again.

But when I was younger (like 10) I was pretty ticked off that that he (about 4 years old) would climb up to the breadbox while I was at school and eat all the candy I was hoarding up there. So one day I put a pocketknife in there, don't remember if I helpfully left the blade open or not, and sure enough, he cut himself with it by accident.

Plan worked alright - suddenly the parents had a vested interest in preventing him from climbing up there anymore because they didn't know what I had left there. Previously, they thought him scarfing my candy was pretty funny. I never got in trouble either, because how could you blame me - I didn't cut him. And he shouldn't have been up there. My parents still talk about this from time to time - its a funny story now.

So, I really had to think about this. I am in my early 40's and I don't think I have every really been in a 'fight'.

There have been a few minor events where words started or where there was a single punch, but never a full on brawl.

This does not count active military engagements, mind you, but still - I guess that is a good thing, eh?

Violence is best avoided, I have unfortunately been in more fights than I can remember (work related, you'd be surprised at home many people are willing to fight with the police), the worst were when the client attempts a gun grab. Things get real very fast.

That's a good thing! In my opinion it's best to know how to defend yourself in the event that you are attacked but I've never enjoyed fighting. I tried my best to avoid them when I was younger as I got way worse than the fight itself after my father found out. I've found that the only thing worse than getting beat up is genuinely hurting the other person. If a man has a big enough heart he sincerely feels remorse for hurting the other person.

Not to get on the "cool story bro" train, but my closest friend let a guy get to him so much one day that when they actually fought, my buddy stomped the guys head. He never returned to school after that fight. He has severe brain damage and has a personal care giver with him at all times. This guy went from being one of the biggest bullies you would ever meet to needing someone to change his diapers. I'm a firm believer that some people do need a good slap in the head on occasion. Any fight that I have ever been in that resulted in my ass being handed to me, I deserved it. I also think that if people actually feared or have seen the damage that other people can do to them, this would eliminate a lot of the BS that we have going on in society these days; however, a person can also take it too far and seriously have a negative impact on the rest of a persons life.

I'm also a firm believer that intelligent men/gentlemen don't fight. If you can't discuss your problems and sort them out verbally, physically attacking the other person isn't going to solve the problem. On the other end of the spectrum if a person physically attacks me, I'm sure as hell not going to stand there and take it.

Got in a fight 3 days before the end of 8th grade. I was standing in the hallway with some friends and some idiot walks up and knocks all my books out of my hands (kids would walk around and do that for "fun"). It was like slow motion, but all I remember was punching the kid over and over. When it ended his left eye was so swollen he couldn't open it and he also had a bloody nose.

I didn't know this at the time, but my mother and this kid's dad were co-workers. He was rushed to the hospital and it turned into a huge deal. My mom was so angry and went on and on about how she has to see his dad every day and work with him. I'd never been in so much trouble and they were worried there would be eye damage. It all worked out though, he was fine. This was in the 80s (1985 if my math is correct).

Also got suspended the last 3 days of school. Back then, that's all the schools did. Today, I'd probably be arrested.

I remember it vividly as it was the early 80's and my dad had one of those belts that was in style at the time that had the silver dollar belt buckle. He was so upset with me that when he pulled it off, he didn't look at what side he was using to whip me with. The first 6-7 good smacks were with the buckle end.

I had bruises everywhere. He felt so bad afterwards. But you know what, I probably deserved it as I was a little hellion growing up and always getting into some kind of trouble.

I had a broken wrist when I was about 8 and it was in a plaster cast. One day my sister was annoying the living shit out of me, and my parents were amazed how well I held back and did nothing. Went on for ages until she went to walk away, and I clocked her on the back of the head with my cast. Parents saw it all and I didn't even get in trouble because she had been such a shit to me.

I'm younger by 2 years, basically means he has 20lbs on me and 2" ALWAYS, so fighting big head I had to be clever and or dirty

after getting pushed around @ basketball 1elbows 2charges and his fucking cheating (foot on the line) I decided to make us some lemonaids, so pretty with a slice of lemon and frosted glasses I kept in the freezer, (I put toothpicks inside his straw)

With such a cold crisp drink waiting for him that I MADE he got a little on guard, he asked did you fuck with it?!?! any salt or something? He sipped it from the glass cautiously, WOW! that's good, then his guard was off,

He then used the straw, projectiles in his throat! Success! Seeing him Choke and run around in circles was so memorable but after 10 seconds I got a little nervous

In short: he's alive and will not take a drink from me 25 years later...
