That (along with camera misalignment on the main screen) used to be not uncommon with OTA updates in iD7. Solution is for dealer to reflash the software.

Yeah I emailed them. Waiting to go there. IMO they should just do OTA instead of wasting our time but here we are

You didn't specify if your original update was OTA, but that is what frequently has caused the problem before. Doing another one wouldn't necessarily improve it. If it was done by the dealer, flashing the update might not improve it either if they do the same thing they did, but a direct update has a better chance of being error-free than floating electrons.

This happened with the picture of my i5M60 in the instrument cluster - I have mineral white and the rear picture of the car went gray. However in the virtual car representation on the second screen it stayed white. Odd gremlins at play for sure.

These are coding flags int he MGU software which are set incorrectly. Only a software update/reflash will solve this.

If you mean the fix, yes, philosophically it should be OTA for the convenience of the owner. But that's what caused the problem in the first place, so no, it shouldn't (or it isn't) at this stage of the software development.

If BMW were smart it would hire Tesla's lead software engineer ASAP.
