Yes I am aware of that, phone is wireless capable and works on iDrive 7 BMW x7 2020 model.

I'm curious if you know if I can uninstall AA from iDrive and then re-install it.
This is the only thing I can think of that is close to doing "update apps" on iDrive for people who have that option.

Nope that is not a thing. AA and CarPlay are not "apps". They are functions that are enable through code parameters.

Hello, hugo_nz, I am a user of the 2023 BMW X7 LCI. Both the 2023 BMW X7 LCI (produced between August 2022 and March 2023) and the BMW IX (produced before March 2023) share the same MGU21 main unit running on the iDrive 8 operating system, and they cannot be upgraded to iDrive 8.5.

Currently, I am interested in coding and installing a 5AU driving assistance system. Is it possible to successfully code and install it now or in the near future?

Well, clearly it was a miss understanding from my side, sorry for that.

For some reason I always missed the ID 8.5 (Newer MGU).

If I am interested to play with the modules, how can I do it?

Where can I get the CAFD/PSZData or the relevant files and software to edit those?

Thanks!

Does enabling the anti-dazzle lights through BimmerCode (or whoever) also increase their brightness to the same level as in the EU?

From what I can tell they are much brighter than before.

Do you think they are brighter because now the high beams come on with other cars on the road? Or do you think the light output is actually higher? From reading previous posts I believe the ballasts are not the same and def produce lower light output than EU ones(or something to that effect). So only the anti-dazzle function works.

Are you having any issues with cars you’ve just past, or cars coming towards you flashing their lights, etc. acting like your headlights are ‘blinding’ them?

I ask because at night cars I’m coming up to pass on the highway have been doing all sorts of weird things, like turning on their emergency flashers; indicating with either their left or right side flasher, etc.
It really makes me wonder if my headlights aren’t aimed correctly OR whether the iX’s lights are just so ‘White’ that other drivers think they’re mis-aimed.

If getting the headlights coded helped with my night vision and stopped others from thinking my lights are constantly on ‘bright’, it might well be worth having it done.

I haven't had anyone flash lights, or other odd behavior.

My perception is that they have a higher light output. My sample is doing mountain night driving. The reflection from signage is much brighter, and can see super far with the high beams on.

The other interesting thing is I sometimes see it report high beams as on for urban highway driving. Looking at the light shape, I think it's just illuminating the shoulder a bit more.

It isn't the ballasts that are different, as those are always the same regardless of region. It is the actual headlight housings that are most likely different, as in the past, I have done comparisons between US and EU versions of the G30 and G01 lights and there were definitely different LEDs inside the housings.

In my opinion, the coding has not changed the brightness level at all, it only gives the functionality of moving the lights around. The increased reflection on the signage is most likely because of how it is adjusted around other vehicles. I find that while it does illuminate the sides of the road, it isn't quite as bright as it could be.

for folks that have done this headlight coding - did the recent software update revert the settings?

It did not revert for me, but I had followed the steps that CaboM4 had outlined in his posts. However, I was not able to determine with 100% certainty if his steps had worked, or if it was simply that the software update I installed did not involve the modules related to the anti-dazzle coding.

The OTA upgrade from 03/2023 to 11/2023 did not revert the coding.

Modules are "locked" for FDL coding or for unsigned VO coding. However people/companies online are able to obtain the signed files with the 5AP coding removed which allows them to code the modules to allow the Anti-Dazzle Headlights.

BimmerUtility is available for IOS so I gave it a go today. Happy report that RAM and HU_MGU are still available with the same (albeit very limited) set of options as they’ve had since day 1.

I tested by changing the sound theme from BMW to Rolls Royce (much nicer indicator and parking sounds).

I connected using a USB-C Ethernet Adapter and standard eNet cable connected to my iPhone.

Does it work with the latest MGU and iDrive version, i. e. 2024 with iX iDrive 8.5?

Yup that' exactly the same as my car. If you use the iPhone app it's entirely self-contained so no need for esys or any of the data files. As you pointed out above: phone + usb-c ethernet + enet and BU

Nope this wont work on 8.5 since the hardware is different and that MGU now uses SecureCoding 2.0

See the first post...

Nothing of consequence really. Legal disclaimers, sound theme, USB video (while stationary) and 5-blink indicator.
