I'm not sure. To be honest my experience ordering new cars is that they are always late, so I was focusing on other things. But then I remembered that I have an order in this morning and texted my sales person who sent me this information.

Just got the good news from my SA. Car is done production awaiting shipment for an end of May delivery timeline barring any delays.

Wow congrats!
I have heard nothing at all since I reserved on Dec 1st. I am honestly disappointed at the lack of feedback from BMW Canada about my order/reservation. I was not expecting a firm production/delivery date, all I want is an estimate (approx which month)so that I know when I should go discuss pricing and my trade-in. My X5 is in great shape other than a few rock chips and a small scratch and might want to get some of this fixed before the trade in to maximize the value if I can get it done for a decent price, but I don't want to do it too much ahead of time.

If you don't mind me asking, were you able to negotiate the price at all or were you forced to pay full/over MSRP?

Do you have a production number from your build sheet?

You can put that into my garage on the BMW site. It will give you the current status. Your SA can look it up as well.

I am being told in US it's at MSRP not above and might have some discounts like loyalty. Still on the exclusion list for BMWCCA rebate.

No negotiation, MSRP with an annoying $3995 Freight/PDI Fee (Because the dealer car charge whatever they want) and a $595 Doc fee. That's life though, we get off easy out West with only 5% tax. I lucked out, our local dealers had long waitlists (one quoted 2yrs), but the other dealer 3hrs north had an open build slot after someone canceled their early pre-order and no one had taken it.

I put in a reservation, gave them money and got nothing but marketing emails from BMW.

I have asked my salesman more than once and his answer has been the same up until the day we test drove the car March 17th; BMW Canada has not given him any info.

This might have changed recently, as I have seen many US and Canadian customers get info about their cars. I have to do a brake oil change on my X5 next week so I will have a chance to sit down with him and talk to see if there is any update.

We don't get the My Garage feature in Canada, have to rely solely on our SAs for information.

The process may be different in Canada, did you spec out the car and send the configuration you are looking for? My SA called when my unit moved into 111 status and again at 112 status to finalize build. It moved to 150 about 3 days after 112 status and I have a VIN now and no more changes are allowed. I am week 21 (end of May) and expect my car in June. Although it seems like things are speeding up as I am in 150 (production begins) now.

The SA should of sent you your build sheet, which has the production number. You should be able to get the info with a call to the dealership.

We do get a truly outstanding deal on the IX50 in Canada though. Like for like my configuration in the U.S is $4000 more MSRP and that includes the $7500 tax credit.

The iX 50 comes out significantly cheaper than in the US using the current exchange rate and the the iX M60 comes out to about the equivalent USD price. This ends up making the difference for my spec between a 50 and M60 of 21k CAD which is just too much. When I configured the same cars on the US site, the difference was something like 9500USD or about 12k CAD using a current exchange rate.
(I am not considering any US tax credits)

This pricing just feels weird. I guess good for me who wants a 50.

I did send him how I would build it after the test drive but it was not required by them at the stage we were at but he said if I wanted to I could send it to him. Honestly I did it more to show that I was getting it well equipped in case they had an opportunity to bump me up the list like they did to venom21 and that it could sway them to prioritize my high MSRP order.

In any case, I will meet with him next week to discuss. My issue has been that he was so far unable to even give me a tentative month because BMW Canada had not given them that info as of then. I'll see if that has changed since then.

11/16/21 Order placed
3/28/22 Status 112. Production # assigned.
4/6/22 Status 150. Vin Assigned

Sounds like we may be in the same week production schedule. July delivery seems so far off lol.

OMG that's a ridiculous amount for freight only I went to check mine & it shows $2,466 under "Other Dealer Options" but $695 Doc. Fee But at least they will deduct the $120 Fuel Fee

Went and test drove today. I'm #8 in line for an M60, the CA said I can expect it in probably 8-9 months and the 50s are booked out about the same timeframe at this point.

Canadian federal budget today says they'll be expanding the federal EV credit to include more vehicles, particularly light trucks and SUV's. IX might still be too expensive to get a subsidy, but here's hoping. Details to follow from Transport Canada. The budget also includes a bunch of money for EV charging infrastructure.

I hope so! I remember back in 2016 when I bought my first XC90 T8 I received $8,560 rebate back and then rebates got cancelled

Annoying that this varies from country to country. In NZ for instance the model year is determined not by manufacture date but by the year the car is registered in New Zealand. My e-tron for instance is classified as a 22 despite being built early in 21. This caused much confusion since I specifically wanted a 22 model year for the improvements that they include.
