'No Audio Source' bug

Was listening to XM today and switched to audio from CarPlay. I noticed immediately that it said it was playing but with no volume. When I tried to adjust volume with the volume rocker dial and iDrive 8 simply said 'No Audio Source' and wouldn't adjust volume. It wouldn't play any audio in any situation.

A google search found a solution that worked for me so I wanted to share it here in case others encounter this: while in park or at a stop with foot on break, press and hold the volume rocker dial for 10-30 seconds until you see the iDrive media screen go black. It will then take a 1-2 minutes to fully reboot and come back on and all should be working again

This shit plagues me in my X5 currently. Interesting it's still an issue even moving from ID7->8?

Thanks for sharing your fix! Looks like I'll need it still.

An iDrive reboot cures many ills (and is the first and easiest thing to try when electronics go rogue), and you don't actually need to be stopped or in Park - just hold the volume button in long enough for the screen to go blank (paying attention to the road if you're driving) .

You need to reboot the iDrive. Hold down the volume button for 70 seconds until everything resets. Continue holding it even after you see it reset. Known issue. A software fix is coming.

I hope its coming soon because my iX was in service for the past week for the overhead rattle as well as this reset and they couldn't figure out either one! Ordered some intelligent battery sensor. No idea.

I'm having this issue now with my 2023 G80, the car is 2 weeks old and it just started happening today. I tried the iDrive reset and it still doesn't work. I noticed the pedestrian detection, drive assist, and PDC are all disabled with faults. I have an appt. booked for with service for next week, do yal think its a bad amp or head unit?

Overhead rattle (flapping) at speed like a baseball card against a bicycle spoke? (SIB 54 03 22)

Friendly suggestion: You might consider posting this in the M3 forum so it doesn’t get mixed up with the iX.
