More evidence of Karen Dukec desire to completely kill the brand and its traditions. And this articles from 2019! This is way before the backlash really started. Now he's just making excuses and blaming all the customers for being idiots instead of admitting that his vision was wrong and he has completely destroyed this brand permanently.

As many have eloquently stated in this thread. BMW was late to the game on many fronts. They tried to reinvent the brand and screwed up. They will no longer be looked as pioneers, classy, prestigious, innovative, or unattainable. They will be looked at as a brand trying too hard with some shity looking cars.
While I am in the group that will not buy a BMW with the bulbous new grills, I don't think it is too late. Just as Coca Cola recovered from "New Coke", so BMW can recover from this debacle.

But...alas...I don't see any recognition that a recovery is needed.

Folks, there is no comparison between the two. One is a true professional, the other is disconnected from reality and has a serious personality disorder.
Save for the E60 and pre-LCI E65 I found all of Bangle's models to be very attractive. He modernized BMW's look and added some progressive styling elements that still fit the brand's image.

Most of his cars still look modern today. E9X 3-series, E70 X5s, etc. are still very common on the roads today and look great.

Yeah, so I was looking for a place to put this because as an F82 M4 owner, the G8X is appalling to me. I made sure to broadcast this early on, which resulted in one of the mods here banning me, because apparently you can't state the obvious, which is the G8X is dogshit design.

Anyways, several people latched onto my comment and posted the "YoU HaTe iT NoW buT WiLL buY onE AnyWays."

I ordered an 2022 Audi RS6 today in Glacier White on Cognac Brown. BMW has strayed into this gaudy territory that I frankly do not want to be associated with. Once my wife's X4M40i lease is up we're going to move on to an SQ8.

I hope it is worth it for them - bastardizing an icon and alienating the core consumers of the brand is an interesting way to take a business. Oh also, cancelling the ED program - fucking travesty.

Dont worry you are not alone. Same here tho had the F80...My last hope is the next2er/ M2 otherwise bmw will be an afterthought to me after 30+ years of contiuous ownership. Sad but they cant design for their core anymore with this design disaster team.

Congrats on the Audi! A buddy of mine is the GM of our local Audi so we may be heading that way in 2022. Bmw seems to have gone all in on alienating some of its core base and are doubling down. I'm good with it. Plenty of great cars out there these days. That's combined with the censorship on this forum make it easy to switch.

you just wait until you see the G8X in person! you'll be convinced in a heart beat to get rid of your RS6 and get a G8X. its really just the bad camera lenses that dont do the g8x justice in photos! nobody can not like the new BMW design language!! its impossible. BMW is never wrong

I'm going to need some more negatives in that sentence to understand if it ends up positive or negative.

He’s right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and free to buy buy what they like. And if they no longer like BMW designs - ain’t gonna buy, and will spend their money elsewhere.

Dukec's words are definitely those coming from the mouth of someone who's compensation package doesn't include commission/bonus for sales success. It's easy to be indifferent when you get paid the same regardless of sales.

I'm actually starting to see lots of G22s around my area and the grills are just not growing on me. They are hideous in pictures and hideous in person. Not sure why everyone says it looks better in person. This doesn't mean that I wont get used to it, but it doesn't mean that I will grow to like it.

I kind of feel bad for the owners of these cars as I am quite literally "mad dogging" the front of their car as they drive by so hopefully they don't feel weird. I'm just trying to really grasp at the design.

No, the Lexus is much worse. And for those that think BMW sales will drop and they'll change it, it certainly didn't seem to happen for Lexus.

Not sure if this has been posted already:

It's a much better design than the abomination that BMW put out even though I'm also not entirely a fan of it.

I just read a comparison review in the UK's Car Magazine of the Audi A5 vs. the BMW 420i (I know that BMW model isn't even sold in the USA and the same may be true of the Audi). They deliberately ignored front end styling issues but ended up preferring the BMW for its handling.

There are pictures of the two facing the front and the Audi looks way better than the BMW.

Do you know how during the holidays everyone drives around with a big giant wreath attached to the front of their car? That's what these new BMWs look like.

What I have noticed in the very car centric Southern California area is a disappearance of 3 and 4 series BMW's. They USED to be everywhere. Now Tesla's are a common sight as are Mercedes. If CA is an indicator of a national trend, BMW is not looking good sales wise in this segment. Maybe the Beaver Grill was their Hail Mary but I truly doubt it will work. It's one of the goofiest things I have ever seen go into production.

Makes sense. In a large owner survey by Bloomberg of the Model 3, the 2nd most rated in vehicle (after the Prius) was the 3-Series. The next luxury car on the list was the Audi A4, and that was #10 on the list. I've noticed it myself in my own neighborhood. A lot of people trading their BMW 3/X3 for Tesla Model 3 and Y's.
