i8 out of warranty issues? daily driver?
Now that i8 has come down to 65k ish (2014), thinking of picking one up.
Are there out of warranty issues i need to be worried about? Ive had the i3, which was great. never an issue. will probally daily it, 5k-10k miles a year.

You can get an extended warranty from BMW which seems to have a good reputation. I have one but I've yet to use it.
I am a bit surprised at the cost though, considering the drivetrain is covered anyway which has to be the most expensive components, right? |

The drivetrain isn't covered on the 8 year warranty, it's the battery, so you'd expect the extended warranty cost to be similar to that of a 911, which it is.

I have had mine since 2016 (MY2015) I got it new and the lease is up. I have 23k miles on it and I don't see much wrong. My buy price is 69k. Let me know if you're interested as I would otherwise return it.

Perhaps someone can comment on the original questions? As in, any known mechanical or otherwise issues in 2014/2015 versions that one should be aware of if owning an i8 out of warranty?

I would NOT have an i8 without extended warranty. Why? It is a low volume car and BMW really is learning g about electrification isi g this platform. And there can be a myriad of issues that can cost a lot of you do t have some coverage. It is like life insurance.
