Only low 140s in my e46 and e90 at the track. Similar with r1.

I don't think I've ever driven 100mph to be honest. I typically fear the consequences of such actions.

My track days were always with a car that couldn't reach 100 on the local tracks, haha.

Been in a car doing 140 down the 73 towards Jamboree. The stripes on the freeway started to become "one" visually.

I am not really one to enjoy high speeds, I prefer flow with twists and turns. (on mountain biking at least)

100? Yawn. Consequences of law enforcement or crashing? Remember these cars are built stock to do 155mph all day on the autobahn. A brief spirt to 100+ on an empty highway isn't gonna be a problem. These aren't altimas.

law enforcement.

Never do find the thrill of high speeds. I was in a 335i when we did 140. More excited doing 30mph through a tight hairpin or chicane.

Germany in the 80's was awesome for high speed driving. As a US serviceman, I was able to buy gas at about $1/gal, so the fact that my 633CSi guzzled fuel at Autobahn speeds meant nothing to me, other than knowing where the next Esso station was. There were very, very few restricted areas on the A-bahn then. Accordingly, I rarely drove below 100MPH and often got pissed if someone in the left lane made me slow down to 100MPH.

Coming back to 55MPH in the States at that time was a major shock to the system. Like being stuck in a slo-motion nightmare.

This wasn't my actual car, but mine was exactly like this one. Same color and style and wheels.

Nice! My first 6er was also an e24, which is what my screen name is derived from..my 77 630CSi!

In the S85, speed was just a matter of gearing, shifting from 3rd to 4th redline wound up flashing 104 to 110 in an instant with still 3 full gears to go
But mostly frustrating as there was often little room to stretch the legs, everything else surely was slo-mo

I was stationed at Hahn AB, Germany from 74 -78. Had a '71 Corvette and a V6 Capri. Like you, we cruised above 100 and coming back to the 55mph in the states was really tough. Seemed like we could get out and walk faster.

Seriously. I use to tell folks I would do 55MPH on the on-ramps to the Autobahn *if* they were twisty. Skiing in Garmisch is 100 miles away? No problem. Be there in an hour.

The most dangerous thing about the car is not driving it for 10 days or so and getting back into it. It is a mind bending experience at every speed. Especially over 100 mph.
