OEM Wheels - Delete this thread
I recently took delivery (from a UK BMW Main Dealer) of a very decent condition i8. Being an approved BMW, this meant it went through the full AUC programme. On subsequent close inspection, it is possible that three of the four 470 style alloy wheels might not be OEM (no part numbers visible on their inner surfaces). The dealer is wondering whether a prior refurbishment may have resulted in these being obscured.
With so few of these cars being produced (and with there being three main i8 OEM wheel designs where each wheel is then unique to each corner), I'm wondering if those producing replica alloys even bothered producing wheels for the i8 and whether the wheels are, in fact, original. Does anyone know whether replica wheels are out there for the i8? I've searched online and can only see genuine ones for sale. The car is at the dealer and they're going to investigate further but it would be useful to have any info that forum members have. If it turns out they are not OEM, should I ask for the wheels to be replaced (i.e. should an approved BMW come with OEM wheels?) Update: The wheels turned out to be genuine - Question closed (Moderators - feel free to delete this thread) Last edited by Philk; 07-22-2023 at 03:56 AM.. Reason: Question now resolved |
