Check Engine Light...

I picked up my i8 last week and currently have 65 miles on the car. While driving in eDrive mode, I got a CEL today.

Has anyone experienced a CEL? Have an appointment with the dealer on Monday but was wondering if it might have something to do with the gas cap. I remember there is some special sequence required to discharge the gas tank before fueling.

That's the only thing I can think of as far as something obvious that might be causing the CEL.

The tank is pressurized so you must press the open tank door button and the pressure is normalized.

Yours is the first CEL I've heard of and I've been following i8s on the car boards since last October.

Ha ha ha We had the first ever 6 months ago, when we took our car to our friend's private race track. After a few fast laps the CEL came on, but it was gone when we got home.

The light was reset by the dealer and hasn't come back. The car threw a code about the depressurized fuel pump and it hasn't come back since.

Seems like the car is finicky about open the gas cap unless the car the car has less than 3/4 tank of gas.

Sounds weird, will try it too since I just filled up for the first time ever.....the weather here has been bad.....will report back if I have the same issue!
