the swan neck doesn't look bad now, but doesn't look as good as a traditional wing. not a fan of the vents either. seems like with this model they went more track and less street (same hp and weight, more aero and tire). im still getting used to the catfish mouth bumper
i do absolutely love the lightbar tail light on the 992s though.

Liked the front end until you guys said catfish, now it's all I can see.
Negligible power increase vs .2. Have yet to get into all of the technical details, but will be interesting to see how it's differentiated from behind the wheel. Has to be pretty darn incremental, I'd think. the more purposeful and track-focused, the better imo. It's what they're good for. Preuninger's instincts are just spot on. Made one error with no manual in 991.1, then corrected it. Looks at the 992 shifter nub, says no, puts in something that would be fun to interact with. He's a proper driving enthusiast. Other brands could benefit from similar guys at the helm.

This new GT3 looks awesome but to me personally the 991.2 GT3 was styling perfection.

Enjoyed that. All these years and SUVs but they haven’t lost their soul.

Want to see the "Touring" variant. With 911's I always love the "less is more" approach to design, although not like I wouldn't gladly accept the keys to a winged GT3
![]() Overall I still find the 991.2 to be better from an exterior design standpoint (although I do love the 992's lightbar) but interior wise the 992's interior is much more modern. Regardless, both look great. ![]()

Especially with the spoiler active on the Touring the contrast isn't very stark. Nothing like .2 GT3 to .2 RS, for example. ![]() ![]() Standard model is busier and more polarizing this time. If they stay consistent with understated design, 992 Touring will be a real contrast and gorgeous with the light bar. Just due to the top mounted wing alone I can understand strong preference for a Touring. 992 GT3 is immediately more modern, focused, and aggressive. Think the 991.2 goes down as the more beautiful car by some margin. Could make the argument the 991 cleaned up some of the 997's design, it's sleeker, with better flow and integration throughout. No similar progression 991 to 992 GT3. 992 looks out of the Motorsport dep. Fine by me, but pretty different design language. ![]()

If I was GT3 shopping i'd hands down go without the wing. My only issue with 991's in general, i mean great design but despite weighing slightly less than a 997 the car just seems to look so damn big.
I am shopping for a 997.2 or 991.1 "S" and have NFI which way i'd go if 2 identical speced cars in front of me. The 997 looks fantastic and still small but a) bumperettes are fucking gross and b) interior is a bit ox cart without the leather dash selected. Last edited by Alfisti; 11-26-2020 at 01:14 PM.. |
