This is a charging unit that comes with i8. At least in northern Europe.

Charging going on. Very easy, just plug it in ordinary socket and all works.

Here is the key. For comparison my F30 and X1 keys also. i8 key is wider but significantly thinner than F30 key. Dealer had no info about display key.

I don't know why, but there is something really cool about seeing an actual real owner charging his new i8. Somehow makes the car seem much more real now that it is the hands of a real-life owner, and not the celebrity first car buyers.
Please keep us informed of your experiences, good and bad, that come with the car. And congratulations again. We're all incredibly envious. |

Keep 'em coming - highly enjoying seeing real owner photos. The one on the ferry strikes me for some reason. That blue.... so beautiful. |

Oh, I was almost about to forget...the rear can swallow a box (6 bottles) of 95p wine very well and you still have nice room left for luggages

I will work on them tomorrow. I forgot to say that the interior is better looking live than in pictures. You have to see it 3D with your own eyes to understand it. When sitting in a car, everything looks really good and the feeling is 100% true sporscar. Like italians, but with BMW quality & technology.

Nice that they didn't artificially keep you from buying it for a few weeks too.

Today I visited Sportcar Breakfast Club, a local sportcar meeting held couple of times every season. i8 attracted attention, of course. In picture my car is with Lamborghini Urraco. There were around 100 cars attanding today, roughly estimated. A short film of my i8:

I drove today nearly 400 km, mainly freeway and various weather conditions. Wipers turn opposite directions, from the down & center to both sides. Don't know if anyone has reported this yet. Nice feature.
Electronic gauge is actually interesting now when I have had time to get used to it. There is speed info but no rpm actually. Instead there is power-%. It's nice to see how car works in various situations. At 130 km/h the car used about 13% of it's power to move during straight run. Slight downhill is almost zero power, slight uphill 15-17%. During braking the car goes to charging mode and starts to generate e-range. And actually in %-gauge there is eBoost mentioned in case you really push i8. I haven't been able to see how it works since you meet speed limits really fast when throtteling. But in ordinary fast acceleration power goes max up to 70% but no higher. Maybe if you keep pedal straight for 4-5 seconds you get max eBoost? Once I have used to this all electronic dash panel, this feel much better than traditional one. Markings in screen are clear and you have nice small details all over the gauges giving even more accurate information about your car. Especially in a complex vehicle like i8 this is essential. Range of i8 seems to be pretty nice. I will report more within couple of days, but "one tank" which is very relative measurement in this car seems to move it about 600 km. But we'll see it soon. Attached actual driving image of gauges. Please note power use in about 13% region and green cruise marking in speedometer.

How was the reaction, do a lot of people know much about the i8 in general? It would seem almost like a Unicorn considering you have the only i8 in Finland.
Awesome location for a car meet, btw... |

My car was featured in national yellow press yesterday and everybody knows it here. "Is this the same one and only" is the usual question every time I open the door... Location was aviation museum. MiG-21 seen behind is one of the fighter types I got maintenance certification during the days in Air Force

I today refulled my car again - 34,9 litres that carried my i8 498 km. There was about 60 km range left during refuel. So very close to 7,0 litre per 100 km. I used charging at home to diminish gas consumption. Range of the car is seen in dashboard all the time but it goes down and up all the time. Don't know about algorithm. With some battery aid & full thank you should easily reach 550 km, maybe 600 km. I drove a lot of local freeways (at 130 km/h) with this latest tank.
With pure eDrive you can drive this car around 25-30 km with full batteries. I didn't measure it accurately today, but I'd say that the car run today about 25 km with batteries only. Maybe I can reach 30 km if I really try and calculate accurately, but not much more. I really like eDrive...it's elegant and knowing that there goes no gas is great. You can easily take your car downtown and home with full battery. With no gas at all eDrive is fast enough in town, you can't push i8 faster in normal traffic than eDrive can provide. In traffic lights I noticed a small, nonsignificant slip on wet tarmac, but remembered then, that eDrive is front only. With that in mind, front keeps traction very well.
