Almost certainly a fake cable. Try an original one.

Yes, I had the same problems with a cheap 3rd party cable. With the original one no problems.

I found a good alternative, put a USB adaptor in the 12v socket under the glove box and run the cable under the central tunnel trim to the side of the passenger seat, then you can tuck the cable back down the side of the passenger seat when not in use. I have a 2.5v adaptor and it charges a lot lot quicker than the cars USB port. Leaves the USB port free for USB stick with your favourite choons in high quality (not streamed) format.

Does anybody know the maximum capacity for the USB stick to listen to the music? I have downloaded many songs to the HDD but I'd like to listen to different tunes every now and then.

I have a 128gb and it plays fine. One of the SanDisk Micro ones, takes up no room and plays very well.

I found the best solution was to plug in a high-power USB charger to the 12-volt socket in the footwell under the glove box. The factory USB plug in the center console does not put out enough current to charge newer phones properly. I also use an excellent ProClip mount that keeps the phone in exactly the right place for easy access. It's a great alternative to the fiddly phone mounts that try to clip into an air vent or attach with a suction cup. It's super secure and feels like it was factory installed, and it can be removed with zero damage to the car. I've used ProClip mounts in all of my cars for at least the past 10 years.

SanDisk Ultra 256 GB in mine. Never had any issues.

For charging i've got a 2 usb adapter in the 12v accessory plug in the center console, with 2 right angle usb cables.
I can charge 2 phones at the same time with the center console closed.

It’s the iPhone X cradle. The great thing about ProClip mounts is that the piece that attaches to the car itself stays the same, but as phones change, you can simply buy new cradles for the new phones which attached to the original mount in the car. So it’s basically “future proof”. By far the best option currently on the market.

Looks good, but can't open the install instructions to see what is involved.

Anyone know of a UK seller?

The photo on the image is actually a LHD car but they reversed the photo! Check out the writing... that’s initiative!
