advice on buying my i8 lease

I recently transferred a lease for i8 that expires in June 2019. I like so much this car that I'm considering to buy it at the lease end(especially when I see new leases at $2k/mont?!)
Also there is not so much difference between 2019 Coupe model and previous one.

The crazy part is the residual value is around $90k!

Did anyone manage to negotiate with BMWFS the buyout price?

I tried, very hard, but got nowhere with BMFS.

Ended up returning my 16 and buying CPO 15 for $20k less than the buyout of my 16.

I'm afraid this will happen to me too...also the new leases are not so attractive

Did you talk to your BMW dealership? Usually BMWFS gives the dealership an option to buy the car. You can request dealer to buy the car and sell it back to you for a small profit to them and an overall savings to you if possible.

I tried but was told BMW was cracking down on this practice. You might have better luck with your dealership.

Garage List
2016 BMW F13 M6  [5.00]
Trust me- as one of the guys who had a 900 dollar lease payment on a 2015 i8 I definitely know my way on how to negotiate my leases- and bmw is not budging whatsoever on their 2019 models at the moment (with over 420 new ones just sitting!)

So I am highly considering simply financing a 2015 i8. With 0 down- and mid 60s- your payment is 1000 a month, with no prepayment penalty (4.5 % I'm assuming your credit is great- wouldn't be able to lease this vehicle otherwise)

The only exterior difference honestly are the wheels (which I go after market anyways) and the little "coupe/roadster" emblem by the window (which imo looks corny)

I say do it!

Agree with SugarSkulls about buying vs bad lease and also donít need the coupe sticker

wondering if I can extend the lease for another 6 months?
I've found on this forum for other cars BMWFS will let you do it for 2 months, but 6 months not sure...
