Check Engine Light

I’ve had my 2015 i3 REX for about two years now, with no problem. A couple of weeks ago, the check engine light came on. My cheap code reader couldn’t identity any codes, so I cleared the light, but it popped back on a few days later. Ordered the Foxwell NT510, used the BMW setting, and got the following two codes:

222537 Internal charging electronics, component protection: Deactivation

222826 Charge management function: Check control message 885, charging with reduced output.

Googling all that has returned bupkis. Any insight here before I throw myself on the mercy of the nearest BMW dealer?

I replaced it a little over a year ago, in the spring of 2020, and had this little import shop down the road register it.

OK, just checking. A fading 12V aux battery throws all kinds of weird codes for a lot of people.....

BMW and other manufacturers have finally figured out a way to keep you supporting your local BMW dealership versus the local garage on the corner.

In my most recent experience one fault code on my i8 that I read out told me that there was a high voltage isolation barrier problem that was likely just moisture in a connection. The fault cleared itself a day later. But after visiting the dealership they informed me that the fault was caused by a heater failure for the main traction battery and that the problem could eventually cause the main traction battery to fail. ( I’m still not sure if I believe them but what can I do?)
Long story short, $2800 later the problem was resolved.
My suggestion is, take the car to the dealership and give up on guessing what the problem might be. BMW has got you by the _____. (fill in your most tender appendage here.)

I also own an i3s and it has so far been much more reliable.
