I love my Glock 17 but it is getting old.

I sold that one when I had a health scare and didn't want to leave it for my wife to figure out what was what and how to get the money back. Felt better and decided I had to have one again. Paid $43k through Ruben at that link for one a year ago and already it's worth more. Mine has the registered sear which is always more desirable than the registered receivers he currently has available. He would probably buy it back for $43K.

If you buy from that site I linked two primary factors kick in. First, he is absolutely trustworthy and you get a seriously good condition gun that will work out of the box. He reconditions them all before sale. It's the Cadillac ride of buying NFA. Second - you pay premium prices. LOL.

And yeah, ammo is higher (I think I used to buy 9mm for about $125 per 1000 rounds) and in general anything you wanted was available and delivered fast. Ahhhh the good old days. Still, might look back in 5 years and think "why didn't I get one then". Never know. They sure do out perform my stock portfolio.
I almost bought one from Ruben back in 2002 for $10,000. I kick myself every time I think about it for not buying it then.

I was just thinking, started my career carrying a Smith & Wesson 5906 and it went down hill from there.

Smith & Wesson 4046 (awful double action only)
Smith & Wesson 99 (emergence early retirement due to numerous malfunctions)
Smith & Wesson (unknown piece of trash as a stop gap)
Smith & Wesson M&P 40

Couldn't find a pic of the developmental 4046 (that's how rare it is)

The ONLY Smith & Wesson I'll ever trust is my 686 wheel gun. It's a non-fluted pimp gun

Has anyone purchased a NFA item recently with the new electronic system? If so, how long did the approval take? They are touting a 90-day timeframe.

I have a P320 (full) and love it, the Q silencer I recently purchased is for my P320. I can’t wait to pair them up.

Plus, I'm a big believer in proficiency with our weapons is important and that can only be accomplished through training.
The US military had to settle on a weapon that as an actual safety selector switch as opposed to the civilian market, where the consumer can choose what safety mechanism works best for them. I'm sure that's why Glock lost out during the test run.
While I'll always support anyone who wears the uniform... I can tell you that not all service members are warriors. Especially in the early stages of their service obligations. That means some may need enhanced mechanical safety measures to avoid mistakes on ranges or in the field.
That's why we can't have nice things, lol. (JK)
I hear ya my brother!!! Retired cop here. I never wanted a safety on my service weapon but appreciate it when not holstered up.

Speaking of not having nice things, my agency was in bed with Smith & Wesson. I had to endure their trash for 25 years

Now I only buy the good $hit
I will say that I love my duty M&P 2.0. It is a solid firearm.

….and yeah, no safeties here and only weapons that can fire with no magazine inserted.

P.S. Thanks for your service. I've got 15-ish to go.

Interesting. What was your issue with the magazine disconnect?

It's kinda a catch 22

Dump mag if losing a fight over your weapon.
(Suspect can't shoot you)

vs

Inability to fire a round without a properly seated magazine.
(You can't shoot suspect)

Thankful I've never had either incident occur.

This was the issued gun at my current department when I started in 1998. It had a bad firing pin spring so my first day was not good.

We switched to the gen3 Glock 22 in 2002. Then gen3 31 in 2008 then gen4 31 in 2018. We're looking at Glock 45 MOS in 2026.

I might have got them at Bass Pro, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Nice! I also have both and slightly prefer the G. Blaster. It's less finicky about shooting sub and super unsuppressed.

Appreciate the feedback! Had the opportunity to pickup the GB (in 5.56 actually) after I already had the Badger. Since the Blaster is in 5.56, I could justify having both :

I strongly support gun rights, and I also very strongly support a woman's right to choose what she does with her body.

In fact, I think supporting the right to keep and bear arms for everyone (but especially for oppressed minorities) is a great thing, and can help defend other rights from government over-reach.

On a different note... Anyone here have any experience with the Springfield Hellcat? Looking for something small for EDC. Have a G19 currently, and I would like a G48, but I feel even that is too large. Debating on the P365 or the Hellcat purely for size.

Ahh, and there are you guys, turning in your kitchen utensils.

I mean, I guess you can take your firearms away, but you lot have sort of proved you'll always find another way eh? Resourceful chaps you are. Going to throw this out there...it *might* not be the implement that is the problem. Maybe.
