Thanks Leto. Please include Model year/Mileage, driving habits and location. It will be a great information/ data for statistical significance. Any issues with crack windshields with other I8 club members in your region ?

Thank you all in adavance.

2019 Roadster, 10tkm, daily driver, typically around 80km / day twice a week. Germany, on road driving. Haven't heard about a cracked windscreen either, but the exchange within the club is typically not about issues, guess for most an issue means BMW gets the car for fixing and they move on with their lives

But honestly, I think this is a wild goose chase. Always the same people post their issue, mix in a little unrelated, damage induced problems from others and create a click bait title.

Suggest to relax and enjoy the car.

I don’t think it’s click bait and I’m sure it’s a issue with a few, just no biggy.

Sure there are only 20K i8s sold around the world but there are currently 165000 i3’s sold with, as I understand it, the same components.

The i3 is generally a load cheaper than the i8, so we would be hearing about a lot of written off, uneconomic to repair, and thus well publicised i3 AC problems from their angry owners - if it was a common problem.

I have a 2019 i8 Roadster with 10,000 miles, and a fair amount of those miles are with the AC on.
No issues so far, except for a Turbo Charging Cord recall that has been a year waiting for BMW to send. The charging cord that I received with the car has been working fine.

Unrelated question: What does the "LCI" designation refer to?

The BMW designation LCI stands for Life Cycle Impulse. It is a term developed by BMW that represents the mid-cycle updates it gives certain models.

I am not sure on how many I8 owners has seen or checked out this forum, so far there are only less than handful that had reported/ written or known of anyone who experienced this issue along with this crack windshield mystery.

"Relax and enjoy the car"
